Wait, so the pads in the link are Verite closed? Craziness!
YES!!! They are the exact same pads ZMF are using on their headphones for more than half the cost ZMF charges.

Damn good find!
Like the perf or non perf for the tr-x00? Gonna use/try the dekoni attenuation rings as well.
Non perf all the way.
Thanks for posting the link!
So after about 2 days and many listening hours, I feel comfortable with saying these pads are a real alternative to stock pads if you donāt want to change the sound. The Ori pads are more comfortable but do change the sound a bit. These are definitely more comfortable than stock but donāt change the sound as far as I can tell. Unless the dekoni X00 lambskins are better, these are probably the pads Iām going to stick with.
So the dekoni pads showed up this afternoon. I havenāt been able to listen to them yet but the leather seems nice and soft (also the most shiny of the lambskin pads Iāve gotten) and the ear hole is JUST large enough for my ear. Iāll have a listen later and see if the sound is still good.
Iām kinda sad, I had to sell the PH due to the 5-6k region killing my ears, so the Ebony should have been what I jumped on, kinda sad I didnāt. But now I got some Koss EST love so Iām good. Just like me some wood cups since I work in my fathers shop a lot.
Edit: maybe wooden earphones would be a good compromiseā¦
Man, Mark really knows woodworking! Very nice.
Every headphone pad swaps differently. Out of all the pads Iāve tried, my favorite pads for the TR-X00 are these for comfort and soundā¦
Are those the ones you linked to Amazon?
Yep. They are.
I know youāve tried so many, but how was the Ori Suede if youāve tried them?
@PapaEmeritus I just sent Mark an email to order chambers. Youāre photos inspired me!
I actually contacted Mark a few months back, but due to unforeseen circumstances I wasnāt able to purchase them.
Now I have to decide on some Mahoganies, or wait and save for TH-900mk2ās
Theyāre so beautiful, any draw backs going to the bigger cups? clearly they have more capacity than the stock cups
X00 Tuning
Thought the X00 community might be interested in this, in all the research ive done on the tuning that can be done on stock cups, (clay tuning, cotton etc) it ruins the rich bass when you put something inside the cups and funks with the detail.
Most important part
The biggest difference comes from air control, how it escapes making pad choice and cupās important. taking the cups off is like opening the BASS pandoras box and sacrifice everything in the name of uncontrolled womping bass. I noticed if I loosened up the screws a quarter turn allowing more air in it meanāt the bass got extended further but felt more uncontrolled but its pretty fun most of the detail remains.
Iāll report back when I use washer spacers to keep contact with the threads to the cups but let a lot more air in.
Also around the driver on the cup side there are holes around the driver I haveāt experiemented with opening up more or covering up the existing ones based on the idea of letting air escape it seems to preserve the bass you wont want to cover these. Though baffling them may do something to sound stage.
Note the cups are of course not as secured down and do pivot a tad bit and ricket but once they were on my head this wasnāt an issue.
While I have not tried the Ori suede, I have used the Ori lambskin for quite a while and have tried dekoni choice suede Beyer pads. The Ori pads boost the treble slightly and reduce the mid-bass. The treble with stock pads I never find sibilant but with Ori pads a badly recorded vocal track can be a touch harsh (I should mention that Iām not very treble sensitive so this may be a bigger deal to others). The bass still extends deep but is no longer quite so huge and impressive (thatās what she said). The suede Beyer pads did the same thing so I would imagine suede Ori pads would be a bit treble murder.
