Servus,
Yes, I understand that absolutely.
The audio in the gaming area is when you do not exactly soas of bad that then such a headphone like the Th900 dissects something completely.
That’s all I meant.
Therefore, the idea was to go to something where less dissected to stand there still on the pleasure side.
But everyone like he wants.
The Lawton mod:
I had the Tr x00 Mahogany at the time and it was terrible.
Vorallem in the heights quite pointed.
The mod has made the whole thing much more pleasant and a good deal defused.
The 50-60$ are perfectly fine and worthwhile.
With the pads, everything is a matter of taste quite honestly.
Just as with the Lawton cups.
Go to the cups after Towel and talk to Mark openly about it is the best.
I’ve done some testing of the Eikon hybrid pads VS the Ori hybrid pads on my Lawton modded X00s.
The main differences are that the Eikon pads are warmer and have a bit more bass. This in turn makes the upper mids and treble feel a bit less prominent, but there is sadly not as much treble attenuation as I had hoped. They still sound great imo are are worth a try, but I’m not hearing a huge difference. It’s also kind of hard to tell since I don’t find my current configuration too sharp at all, so any reduction in the treble is harder to notice.
Another thing to note is the Eikon pads fit rather loosely on the Fostex headphones, so you’ll need embiggening rings.
In the meantime, I’ve let my ears rest a few days. Then added a new cable as well as dekoni sheepskin pads. Already better than before for me and no loss of bass. Also what’s important is the clamping force. I’ve got a small head and like every headphone, it sits rather loosely on my head. This takes away some of the bass and adds a little to it being sharper. I’ve been playing around with hiding an elastic band into a headband wrap. It helps , but I wonder how long an elastic band lasts however, it’s a very cheap mod, so I can just replace elastic bands frequently see pictures of the simple mod.
Hey can I check with you guys what’s the benefit of taking the E-MU Teak with removable cable over the fixed cable, other than being able to run balanced? Should I save $50 and get the fixed cable version?
Pros and cons. Removable cable means easier to store, with the ability to supply your own cable of the length, material and termination you want. However, the 2.5mm mono is known to have connection issue, and not all the aftermarket cables are compatible so some actually prefer the fixed one
My hinge exploded about a month ago and I really miss my PH’s… I tried getting different headphones to replace them but I miss them. Anyhow… I found a mod online that if you 3D print new battles you can hook them up to the hifiman enhanced comfort headband. Below is the part. I’m not sure if it has been linked here or not. I just got it on order. If I can get my cups connected to that I’m going to get the headband
My friend who’s a woodworker started making headphone stands recently and I loaned him a few of my headphones for his product photos. I’ve never seen my own headphones look this photogenic before, super satisfied with the look, feel, and sound of my E-MU Sapele, they’re probably my 2nd favorite headphone after my TH900MK2s…
I loved the sound of my ebony with Dekoni elite hybrid with dekoni att.rings BUT the earholes are too small for my ears and it is very uncomfortable on long sessions
This kinda solve by using the ZMF Hybrid Suede(since the earholes size are perfect for my ears)
with att.rings (the bass is too boomy)
without att.rings(less bass and more treble)
Maybe you should try the Ori cowhide pads. They have more warmth/low-end than the lambskin or hybrid so they might hit a sweet spot for you without attenuation rings.
Edit: I also find the material very comfortable for long periods of time.
Compared to stock pads, the lambskin or hybrid Ori pads without attenuation rings might do the trick. If you are already using pads like that, Lawton pads might work, either with it without attenuation rings.
