They are fairly different cans, depends on what type of sound you prefer, the elegia is going for pretty different than eikons
IMO, yes…especially at that price. Thought I got a great deal at $575 a while back. Don’t have experience with the Eikon, so no comment there.
Crazy good deal
saw this on avexchange
Monoprice has the Liquid Spark amp on sale. 80$ with promo code LIQUID20
Yep. Saw that about 2 hours after I bought a liquid spark at full price. Oh well, $20 difference not the end of the world.
B-Stock LCD-1 and Brand New Mobius each for $299.
The least game-y Mobius color too
hey usually go for 690$ im tempted
I bought the Platinum yesterday lol, dangit!
Monoprice has a rather generous return policy, might see if they will honor the sale rather than go through a return / repurchase.
if i have a elex is it worth buying elegias
Thanks, I’ll look into it, it was on sale so it’s $50, not the usual price or I would be crying!
It’s a really good price and they are being discontinued apparently. Depends on how much you need a closed back, but the sound signature won’t be wildly different
It is though. Vocals are more forward on the Elegias. I would still say though, only if you’re looking for a closed back.
I just contacted them to see if they honor it. Don’t really care too much about the $20, just using it as an experiment to see how good of a company they are.
I’m interested to see this, cool!
I have both…one open, one closed. Also a bit different signature
Audeze Spring Steal LCD-1 B-Stock and New - Mobius Carbon 299$
OMG!
Speculation? They have no other closed-backs in the lineup apart from Stellia, which, yeah is better, but way more expensive.
As @M0N said, they’re playing different games. Focal’s house sound has long been my favorite as an all-rounder. I thought they were good at $900. I like them well enough I bought them twice at $700. $429 is just … I may get a 3rd pair and bury them in a time capsule, lol.
The Elegias are some of the most open-sounding closed-backs I’ve heard, yet they have outstanding isolation. They’re brighter than Eikons, and they have very good detail and imaging. They’ve done right by me with all types of music; I used them as daily drivers at the office for maybe 9 months or so before I decided I should give something else a chance. Build quality is fantastic and they look great.
They’re easy to drive. And they’re still my hands-down favorite for casual / immersive gaming.
Eikons are better with vocals, no contest. They probably have better timbre with a lot of instruments, though Elegia was never off enough to bother me. With certain types of music, Eikons are my absolute favorites, even over Stellias–they just have a remarkable tuning that captures musical emotion well in genres like folk, bluegrass, and anything vocal-centric. They tube well, which I’ve never tried (and never been too inclined to try) with Elegias.
I’m finding I lean toward the analytical side of things and crave detail, which I think explains my affinity for the Focal line in general–they’re wonderfully technical. Yet, I’d call Eikons the higher class of headphone between these two. List price is $1400 for the Eikons and $900 for Elegia, which is in line with how I feel about the relative value each has to offer. So, now imagine you found some brand new Eikons for like $680, and you’ll have a sense for how enthuisiastic I am for this deal.
Probably only if you want a similar sound in closed-back. Or if you want one of those fancy Focal “purses” (Elegia comes with the Focal carry case, which looks like a purse, is built like high-end luggage, and runs $150 as a standalone accessory). If you really love Elex and want a similar sound with a touch more bass and great isolation, is that worth $429 to you?
