The elegia is already discontinued, so it is legit, they are dumping them now

Man that elegia deal seems so good it may be worth buying to just sell later lol

My wallet is feeling the pain before I’ve even spent anything. Ahhhh

If I do this I gotta get rid of something. I’m torn. Elegias vs Sundaras?

I haven’t heard the Elegia. But later down the down line you can probably sell the Elegia at almost no, if any loss.

Also I can’t imagine them sounding very similar at all

Elegia vs Elex: Which is better in what ways?

I contacted them as well, still good deals even if we don’t get the promos!

Man, for me that’s no contest–I’d take the Elegias all day long. Granted, I am an unrepentant Focal fanatic. Get a second opinion. :innocent:

Yeah, they really don’t. Sundaras are very open and airy and sweet. I like mine, but when I’ve listened to them nothing has jumped out at me as “I’ve gotta hear this on Sundaras.” They’re just very smooth, unoffensive and nice.

Elegias are closed, but sound very open for closed-backs. They cannot match the air of the Sundaras. However, they have great bass and clarity and energy. When I listen to them, I’m more like, “I’ve gotta hear everything on these.”

Well, Elex is more metal because it has the blacked out look that says in no uncertain terms, “I’m legit.” Otherwise, …

I’d have to break out the Elex again for a fresh A-B (it’s been a minute), but it’s a little late to be blasting open-backs.

Memory says that Elex edge out Elegia for sheer detail, but not to a hugely important degree. They do sound more open, which affects the sense of air and probably staging. Elegia has an extra helping of bass, but Elex is no slouch. If anything, Elegia pushes things away from “neutral” into “fun” territory.

I thought Elex were a little lighter, but the spec sheets say otherwise (Elegia 430g, Elex 450g). Elex does breathe extremely well (i.e., would not get hot or stuffy). Elegia is only 35 ohms vs 80 for Elex if that’s important. Finally, Elegia comes with the Focal case and Elex does not. The Focal case is extremely well made and a perfect for for the whole line of cans–lists for $150 as a standalone accessory.

If I were offered both at the same price and could only choose one, I’d pick Elegia simply because it can be a challenge to find such a competent closed-back headphone; the added versatility is a pretty good tiebreaker for me. Throw in cheaper price and the case, and it’s not a very tough choice for me.

I exercised restraint. Just kidding, I bought 3.

Another set of nighthawk carbons popped up

I have a pair of Eikon comming in, but I pulled the trigger on the Elegia…
At that price, I just had to do it. they have been on my list for over a year and I need a closed back for gaming.
Now I need to make a “but-dear-wife-I-had-to-get-them speach” :grimacing: :yum:
