Thing that makes me pause on the Sundara’s is i might get the older one before the revision

From what I gather, the revision has been going on for awhile.

I’m just thinking that adding a +12dB boost to 3G/4G and Bluetooth and NFC and Wifi interferences of a DAC crammed in the middle of a smartphone is not a good idea… especially when you can get a Fiio BTR5 or even a small and portable (USB-powered) Zen Dac, both DAC and amps full, full, full of features for the same price or even less, all immune to these interferences.

I dont understand D=

As far as I know this THX “dongle” is just an amp, not a DAC+amp. So it only boosts the (not good) smartphone 3.5mm output signal…

“Garbage in -> amplified garbage out”, is what I think this dongle will do for maybe 75% of the smartphones (and computers).

…then people will think THX sucks because their source sucked, lol.

It would be good for the LG V phones with their quad DACs

They’re good, but they’re also an exception. Will they still be good with 3G/4G and Bluetooth and NFC and Wifi interferences amplified by an external, highly revealing amp? Anyway, we’ll see soon enough lol.

If you plug it into those lightning 3.5mm dacs then it should be fine, for those on iPhone.

I think that amp is for people with dragonfly or one of the many other USB dacs with crappy amps. I don’t see anyone not using a dedicated dac with it. Think of it more as a 3 piece dap, with your phone being source. Or an iPod nano + it would be a cheap dap alternative.

edit: nm the ipod’s. didn’t realize they discontinued the nano/mini/shuffle.
