Could this be the end of Sennheiser as a hi-fi headphone manufacturer?
Hearing aids dont seem an obvious home for consumer electronics.

Probably the end of Sennheiser’s R&D in their headphone line. I think the new owner of Sennheiser’s consumer division will leverage their hearing aid knowledge and R&D in developing Sennheiser-branded IEMs. The existing headphone line will probably continue, although a few models will probably get axed sooner or later.
