đŸ”¶ Thieaudio Legacy 3

I never tried the stock tips (the eBay set I bought were missing the tips in my size), but both the Spinfit and Symbio tips I’ve used work great to get a seal for me. (Spinfits being comfier than the Symbios for me)

Using Spinfit SP 145’s on mine and get a great solid comfy seal although you may want SP 100’s as the fit on the bore is not the tightest and required both the bore and silicone collar to be cleaned with soap to prevent slippage.

Found a pack of Comply T500s in my drawer. That did the trick, much improved.

Yeah, using SP 100’s on mine and they have no issue staying on.

Legacy 3 vs Blessing 2, anyone
?

I have these and I am not impressed.
Waiting for my Dragonfly Red to arrive.
Maybe that will rescue them?

They sound bad vs my Kilpsch X10i.

On some recordings it seems like a whole frequency band is missing in the low frequency!
Treble is rough. Voices don’t sound right.

They did sound good on a Sufjan Stevens however.

Strange. Maybe mine are faulty?

just throwing this out there: Are you getting a good seal?

Mine are in customs bois, will be reporting back

I think so.
But I am not 100% sure.
I use the double flanged tips on the Kilpsch and they go a bit deeper.
Any recommendations on a good ear tip?

You can try foam tips, it fixed my initial fit problems!

Stock works great for me lol. I wonder what’s going on
Do you have enormous ear canals?

I use Spinfits (CP100) on mine and they work fine for me. I also have used my Symbio W’s on them and they do provide a much better seal for me, but I prefer the greater comfort (for me) and ease of use of the Spinfits, since I need to sort of roll the Symbios like foams, while I can just pop the Spinfits in.

My ear can’t tell too much difference in the sound between the two so I use the Spinfits. It also helps at work since when using the Symbios there might be someone 4 feet away talking to me and I have no idea if they’re not in front of me, while the Spinfits do let in some outside sound.

They sound a whole lot better now.
Maybe they needed a little bit of burn-in?
Is that a thing with iems?
Could be my brain needing burn in to get used to the wide soundstage of these phones.

Maybe? I believe in burn-in to some degree if there is a component that physically moves like in headphones and speakers (do the drivers in IEM’s move?), although to the degree it may alter the sound is possibly up to the components used.

Yes and in the case of the L3 it’s a DD :+1:

burn-in is a 100% real and noticeable as a psychoacoustic phenomenon. burn-in in the physical sense that people use it may perhaps be measurable but it’s inaudible 9/10 times.

(speakers, on the other hand, might be a bit different. much bigger drivers)

so it’s completely normal that new headphones or IEMs don’t sound good to you. you’re used to a completely different sound

I’m using these on my Huawei Mate 20 Pro phone. After burn-in they sound as good as my (way more expensive) klipsch X10i.
My Dragonfly Red arrived (my DAP is stuck in my workplace due to the virus) and made no difference to the sound!
I knew this wasnt right so I downloaded the USB player Pro app. This made a massive difference to the sound and the legacy 3 sounded superb.
However the Dragonfly drops out after 20 seconds or so with an error.
Turns out that the dragonfly won’t work with all android phones (especially Huawei phones).
My phone probably won’t work with any USB DAC.
So looks like I need either a DAP or to use Bluetooth or get a new phone to hear these earphones properly!

I’ve been enjoying the Fiio BTR5 with my phone, in case you’re looking for something that may let you continue using your phone as your music player.

Thanks
Looks like a good option!
I was thinking Shanling M0 or the Audiolab M-DAC nano.
