đŸ”¶ Thieaudio Legacy 3

After some use I think these are good for the money, but nothing that special that even once made me say “wow” Though I havent had that with any iems, probably should invest more that max 200 in them.
Anyway, I hope this is not “S” tier like BGGAR put it - simply because I would like something in “S” tier to really amaze me. These are just fine.
Bass is great, mids are okay and highs are there. BA part of the IEM felt bit cold and not very analog (“musical”), but I guess that could be said about many IEMs.

Perhaps they would sound better with another device (using BTR5). A wire upgrade could be nice, but cannot use any of my good cables since it uses those weird raised 2 pin connectors - seriously, whats the point of that :stuck_out_tongue: IEMs should have standard connectors, period. Dont wanna end up like in 90s, where PCs had so many connector types that you ended up connecting game controllers to sound cards

Well, as BGGAR says, it’s ‘S tier’ to him based on what he likes and the music he listens to, but may not be to everyone. It just means while it may be in his ‘S tier’, it’s just not in your ‘S tier’.

Not sure what the issue with the connector is though, these can use standard 2-pin cables just fine, it doesn’t have to have the QDC connector. (at least they work fine with all of my 2-pin cables)

I kinda like the same music xD

He uses rme amp dac to listen to iems so this variable is different for you. But whole tier system is just reference for me for avoiding garbage. Have to say that so far i liked his recommendations. I don’t expect for 150 to be wowed and don’t feel like spend much more on iems so I am enjoying what I have right now. Saying that my L3 should be here this week so will see how they compare to others i have

Okay, so I got my custom shell Legacy 3’s in today, and some things I noticed vs the Clockworks I had bought (and re-sold once I decided to get the customs)

  1. Much nicer packaging
  2. Different case
  3. Different Thieaudio branding on the faceplate of the IEM (I think it looks similar to what I’ve seen on their other IEM’s?)
  4. The pin connectors are now internal, instead of being external (QDC). I didn’t notice this at first even though I did notice and thought it was odd the cable was a regular 2-pin instead of QDC like they’d sent with my Clockworks.
  5. The QDC cable they’d sent with the Clockworks was 2.5mm balanced, this one is 3.5mm. No idea why they sent the balanced cable with the Clockwork version, when I asked them what cable came with the Legacy 3 after ordering my customs they told me 3.5.

These were the W03 faceplate and H16 shell options.

Ordered on 27 May with free shipping. By the time it got to 08 June with nothing happening, I contacted Linsoul and asked to upgrade the shipping to Express for $12 (which was DHL). After that they shipped out on 11 June (no idea if changing the shipping affected the IEM’s being shipped out soon after, they could have just been taking that long to put together) and I got them today (Central WI, US) on 16 June. In comparison, I had ordered some Blon BL-03’s a week before ordering these L3’s, and while they shipped out within a few days, they have been sitting in customs for 3 weeks now.

I’m in the same boat. They’re ok, but I still favor the ISN H40 which has better mids and vocal presentation. Vocals on the L3 aren’t as forward as I’d like, but to each their own.

Love the looks and after runing them for an hour through my test playlists I am comming to conclusion that this is my last IEM for a looong time. Love them.

The new Penon Orb is getting some love on head-fi right now. Might be worth exploring if you’re considering the H40. There’s a 15% discount code (9BBEFTZH) that takes the lowest price on the Orb down to $220.

Here’s the impressions thread for the Orb: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/penon-audio-thread-post-your-impressions-here-introducing-the-orb.934523/

Blessing 2 came in the other day. Definitely not my flavor, with treble too hot and bass too thin. I was able to get the tips in my ears, but the shell is like a gumball lol. Soundstage sounded about the same as L3(excellent), but I’m sure B2 pushes more detail. Not that I feel I’m missing anything with L3. <3 Easy win for L3 here, but I can see B2 possibly being outstanding for classical or audiobooks.

I’ve been listening to the Unreal OST(1998) lately, that I’m very familiar with. It’s amazing to hear all the little clicks, pops and imperfections in the music I’ve not heard before
And the music still just sounds fantastic, even with those “flaw” details very audible.

Well got these in today and have been listening to them for awhile. They look sharp and the sound is deff up my alley so we shall see after about a week. No complaints so far.

It’s like my grandmothers coffee cups molded like IEMs, lol.

Seriously though, if they’re ceramic (I know ceramic IEMs exist) don’t drop these!

Lol I know, they are not glass ceramic etc. They just look identical to it , spot on job from them.

That’s a cool pattern. Looks like the old Corningware dishes
my grandmother and my mother had. I almost got that in mine.
