Try different silicone tips

Tips I’ve tried so far are the tips that came with them, Xelastec tips, Sony EP EX10a and Spinfit CP100 tips

Maybe you could try “lengthening” the nozzle by putting just a tip tube onto it and then full tip onto that tube?

Not sure what you mean. As in cut up a tip and take out the inner tube, then mount that to the nozzle and a second non-cut up tip over the inner tube if the first tip?

Exactly, it was the only way I could use some iems

And that should help against driver flex? Wouldn’t that later the sound as well?

you’ll have to check, as you written before, each ear is different

No driver flex here.

How are you inserting the IEMs into your ear? Are you just kinda shoving them on in there? What I recommend to help alleviate or eliminate this is to lightly pull upward and backward on your Helix (the ‘top’ of your outer ear) with one hand to stretch your earhole a little bit, then [simultaneously] use your other hand to lightly but firmly seat the tip into your ear. Once you have the IEM inserted with your opposite hand, release your Helix to help ‘snug’ the tip inside. While I have zero driver flex issues with the L4, this has helped with it on units where I have experienced it. It also helps you get a good, solid fit with no irritation or discomfort.

Yeah I tried and it works a bit, but if I lightly touch the IEM while it’s in my ear, or I eat something making it move, it starts popping like it’s trying to make popcorn. So weird that it’s only the right ear .
It doesn’t sound like anything is wrong when I use foams, when I use silicone I do sometimes get weird sound from the right IEM.

I guess foams it is for me then. My next IEM will be the FD5, with all those vents on the back there is no way I’ll have pressure problems :P.

Nah, contact Thieaudio via Discord and ask for a replacement. They should help you. You shouldn’t have to deal with something like this with a brand new IEM. They’ll make it right. My L4 has no driver flex.

You should not have any pressure issues with any Fiio IEM. They are all vented extremely well.

Yeah I love my FH3, it gave me that wow factor that made me want to try more IEMs other than the T2, and in terms of sound the L4 complements the FH3 pretty well. I will contact ThieAudio, maybe it is indeed defective.

EDIT: @Resolution should I use the Linsoul Discord for this?

Definitely contact them about a replacement; better to have it replaced and be at ease than to suffer using tips that you don’t like. Also, only one side having the issue (combined with it not being a common or widely-known issue) makes it pretty suspect IMO.
Edit: Discord and/or email them; Linsoul is really good on getting back to people for customer service/escalating either way.

Yes. Try to get in contact with Deng. If you purchased from Linsoul, you could probably contact them directly on their website, although I’ve never tried that.

I’ll try email first, since I’m not on Discord that much myself so I’m afraid I will messages. If that doesn’t work I’ll contact them on the Discord. Thanks!

Driver flex is not a problem with the unit in most cases. Chances are a replacement unit will be the same for you. Its all about that ear anatomy.

I had a friend over and asked him to try as well, and he had exactly the same problem in the right IEM while it was fine in the left one.
I’m going to try to get a refund, I wonder how that goes.

No harm in trying I guess.

If I put the right side iem in my left ear, I get the same plopping sound but not when I put the left side iem in my right ear, so I feel it’s more to do with the iem than my ears to be honest. I’m afraid that I will only get about €55 out of the €195 (incl customs) back after subtracting shipping costs though, so not sure if it’s worth it to send them back.

The L4 isnt symmetrical though, so not sure if swapping the units to the other ear is a good test. But otherwise that does sound bad…
