Exactly what I was trying to point out. Lesson I guess is do not always trust graphs. I think Resolve/Andrew has some bugs to work out of his rig since his graphs are obviously incorrect. He’s brand new to doing this so no one should trust anything he posts yet.
I’m contemplating buying these, the Tanchjim Oxygen or the Mangird Tea. Are these vented well enough so they don’t cause suction/vacuum like the Mangird Tea? I’ve heard some complaints about the fit of the Oxygen, are these better in terms of fit?
The difference in price between L4 and the other two is quite big, if I get these I could also get a pair of Blon’s and some Xelestac tips and still be better of in terms of $$ .
Well yeah, I probably should. But I’ve read less about them, there seems to be more fuzz around the L4 for some reason. Do you think the L5 is a significant upgrade over the L4? It’s quite a bit more expensive.
I dont think I am fully competent to judge these sets since I havent heard them, but it seems like L4 is a more detailed version of L3…
The L5 looks like more neutral set (less mid-bass compared to those 2 and less intense treble)
But overall…
L4 looks like a solid package for its price considering the ton of shit it comes with.
I’ve owned the Legacy 3, Legacy 5, Tea and currently have the Legacy 4. The Tea and L5 definitely compete directly, with the L4 being slightly warmer to my ears. The Legacy 4 is on par with either of them in terms of technicalities IMO, but with a brighter, slightly more V-shaped tilt. L5 and Tea are both well worth their asking price, where I find the L4 to be my new $200 benchmark (and one of my personal favorites at the moment). The L3 is V-shaped and decent, but for $130, I personally like the FH3 better all-around. I don’t think that you can really go wrong with any of them, but they’re all different flavors.
(I’m also sending a bunch of IEMs, including the L3 L5 and Tea, to Headconcert at the moment so whenever they arrive and get listed, there should be some lightly-used and reasonably discounted ones popping up for sale any day now. Just FYI for anyone in the market )
I also have the FH3, so I guess that means the L3 can be crossed off my list. I’m mostly looking for something for classic rock and for acoustic. I love the looks and the price of the L4, the looks and reviews of the Mangird Tea and the looks and one Rikudokou’s opinion of the Tanchjim O2 .
I don’t live in the US so I’m afraid Headconcert won’t be a solution for me.
I personally find that the L4 is a good offset to the L-shaped FH3, so if I were in your shoes, I’d be looking at either the L4 or Tea as complimentary pieces to your FH3. I can’t comment on the Oxygen as I’ve never had it, but Harman-tuning may also be good for classic rock. Hopefully someone who has had both the FH3 and Oxygen can chime in on that.
I think the L5 is at the top of my list now, followed by the L4 or Tea. Harman tuning is not my think I think (considering I didn’t like the Starfield) though I’ve heard they are different from the KxxS which is also harman tuned. I can’t believe how stressed the F out I can get from picking out an IEM lol.
Don’t stress too hard; remember that it’s all about the enjoyment of your music! Honestly, I don’t think that you can go wrong with any of the three of them. While I kept the L4 over the L5 and Tea because I find myself preferring brighter tilted sets but could happily live with any of them as my sole IEM. If you didn’t dig the Starfield much, then I agree that you can probably scratch the Oxygen off of the list.
I dont really like my KXXS after hearing the Oxygen.
I am curious to know how they sound, but I don’t dare ordering them.
The L5 is brighter than the L4 right? I think I’m looking for something bright and mid-centric. I want to replace my T2 and I need something to complement the FH3, where the FH3 would be for bassy music and the other set would be bright and used for classic rock and acoustic stuff like Jim Croce and Don McLean.
Nononono, sorry if I was unclear; the L4 is brighter where the L5 is warmer and more laid-back. The L4 has more upper-mids where the L5 and Tea are pretty even in the mids.
No. The L5 is much warmer than the L4. The L4 is much more clinical.
The L5 and the Mangird Tea have extremely similar tuning, yet the L5 sounds warmer yet slightly brighter. The Tea has a better sub bass focus vs the L5. I prefer the Mangird Tea vs the L5.
Alright now I’m leaning towards the L4, since I think I’m looking for something bright.
Which would you say is better for classic rock and acoustic?
I think the L4 is great especially at its price point. Linsoul are re-releasing the Legacy 3 with the DD from the L4.
Ah so that’s what the update is about along with the 2-pin. Funny, I had planned to spend €250-€300 on a new set of IEMs, but I get the feeling this €165 set is possibly the best option for what I’m looking for.
Both BGGAR and I will tell you the Legacy 4 is a great IEM. It’s very small, has a beautiful custom paintjob and comes with accessories outside of its price range. The cable is very nice.
Here’s a picture of my custom L3 and L4…
Man they look awesome. Probably going to be the L4, some AZLA tips and I’ll throw in either a blon bl-01 or bl-03 to make it worth the shipping.
Thanks!
Well I just got these in, and I think I quite like the sound. But holy mother of driver flex… That piece in my right ear is popping like craaazy . Is drive flex just a combination of earshape, iem shape and vent placement, or could it also be this specific unit? The left one seems to do fine, but the right one is pretty bad. The only thing that seems to help is using foams, but I’m not too impressed with what foams do to the sound tbh.
