We have the mk2!!! Showed up 3 hours ago, and we immediately connected them to our modest Luxury & Precision W2 DAC and gave them a listen. It took 3-4 tip swaps to find the best tips, but we settled on a mid size foam tip and are doing testing with them now. (tips included)
I will be acquiring a Sony DAP soon, but everybody is out of stock or I would have that to test these with today.
My other IEM is the Dark Magician, my headphones are DT1990, earbuds are klipsch x11i and the only DACs we have right now are the L&P W2, 2 small TC DACs (dongle and adapter DACs), and an unbalanced Marantz sacd30n DAC.
The mk2 IEM, using the W2 DAC, Tidal hifi app on my Galaxy S22 ultra, and my usual playlist provides a solid, noticeable improvement over the Dark Magician, and most of the improvements are in image clarity, Soundstage width, bass precision and sub extension, and harmonics. My ears were able to pick out the clearer, more precise image coming from the mk2 very easily. This is not something wrong with the Dark Magician, but a testament to the superior capabilities of the mk2.
The hype about the mk2, in our opinion, holds up and we are suuuuuuper happy to have these!! Linsoul took the order on the 13th of this month, and they showed up from China 5 days later on the 18th!!
We love these things, and the beautiful exterior is an added bonus. Having the 3 “smart switch” plug types(4.4mm bal, 3.5mm bal, 2.5mm unbal) included with the set is also a plus, and we appreciate the sturdy workmanship found in the cables, IEM body and nozzles, and connectors. We are ecstatic for our new IEMs!!
Will definitely update this when we acquire the Sony NW-WM1ZM2 DAP, but for now they are out of stock everywhere we look. That DAP will complete us!
