ok listening to itā¦ keeping in mind that i am using an LG V35 that has been tricked into high output mode (not a great test but it got to a volume i felt comfortable with at around 30/60), i didnāt really hear much of a big difference in detail of speed or anything that was more intriguingā¦ it was certainly clearā¦ but it felt like there wansnāt enough bass (i like a heavy thump), and that it was just alright (not much more clarity, or thump, or weight)
Owner of the OG P1, will take it to the grave with me. Been using with OG E1DA 9038S but the loud static sound due to bad USB cable was a mild discomfort. Was out of the IEM game these past few months as I started enjoying my cheap soundbar Samsung HW-T400/XL 2. When I got back to the P1 the other day I felt the line āYouāre as beautiful as the day I lost youā. To top it of, got the Moondrop Moonriver 2 and Fiio LC RC 4.4mm to go with it. God I missed the P1. Now back into the rabbit hole, already burnt a hole in the pocket with a new dac and a cable, the 7Hz Timeless is tempting given how much I am love with the planar sound of the P1.
Absolutely. I had the P1 for about a year and it just sat in the bottom drawer. Then, I realized it needs like 1W/Channel or it doesnāt sound very good. Now it is in my main rotation.
Hereās the Oratory 1990 target with a few tweaks. With this EQ this $70 headphone has as much or more enjoyment factor as my other full size headphones and as much as my speaker system. Fuck they bang. Suprised I get 0 tube noise out of a Lyr 3 as well. And no, I donāt get any distortion.
With this EQ thereās subbass, the mids donāt sound chifi (soulless and disjointed from the rest of the frequencies) and the treble is there, but not overly so. The drivers have that crazy planar speed which is incredible for rock, but man do female voices sound good as well.
Now I just wish someone made a decent bluetooth dongle with EQ that isnāt $200 like the Shure TWS and I would rock these everyday over airpods pro. Until then, Iām stuck using a 2.5mm cable with the ES100.
Yeah. I think Iām gonna get the Q5K as I canāt run parametric EQ out of the ES100 and they do sound like shit without it.
I donāt own the P1s anymore, but when I had them with the 5k I thought it was a pretty flexible setup that sounded good and was infinitely tweakable. Ultimately, I think the P1s sound a little bit better with more power than the 5k has to offer, but itās more than good enough for on the go and it gets you like 90-95% of their performance.
I kinda wish I still had them to see if the BTR7 gives a noticeable increase in performance of the P1s because it has PEQ now too. Anyways, I think you have the right plan and for the money I cant think of many/any mobile setups that would objectively beat the P1 + Q5K combo.
Hey there, did you get any noticable improvements on balanced? Iām currently on 3.5mm through fiio btr5 and ifi idsd nano black label but they feel lacking. Thanks in advance
I still have the P1 after a long long time and I still struggle to power them properly, itās not just a matter of a balanced cable, these need a generator lmao
(Iām not saying thatās why theyāre lacking, IEMs have come a long way since then, but I still very much enjoy the P1 on high gain balanced on my amps)
I needed a good IEM to use when Iām running errands, i had a list of IEMs i was considering but one day found a good ebay deal for a P1 Plus and i jumped on it. When it arrived i discovered that it was a P1 not a Plus, the outer box cover was missing an i guess the seller confused it with a Plus, it was a good deal and i decided to keep it.
The balanced cable will definitely give you more power from your BTR5 and the P1s will certainly appreciate that. Much like full-sized planars, they appreciate power and current to get them up and running.
Appreciate the advice
Hi, got the P1 Max for a few days.
At the start, they sounded just average.
After many hours, and nights, running them with my phone+dac (Qudelix), they finaly opened up this morning. I was really surprised when i listened them.
Iām using a bit of EQ.
I heard a great improvment compared to the first listening.
Bass are much faster, cleaner, and have more authority. Mids are really clean and engaging, trebles are super clean, soundstage is realy deeper and larger.
Iām using a balanced silver cable and (finaly) Spinfit CP 145.
