đŸ”¶ Tin P1 - Planar IEM

Linsoul $169 ships worldwide for free. Can’t comment for EU tax, here in Malaysia usually China imports (Aliexpress purchases) do not get taxed.

Just email Linsoul and ask for the discount code nicely, then buy it on their site. $149 shipped anywhere in the world for free. It is coming from China anyway.
Your import costs will always be your normal import costs. You can’t skirt that.
In any event, by the time it hit’s Aliexpress it will be back to the $169 msrp for at least a few months or more likely a year at least. Especially since it was received so well. Heck I would not be surprised if they even went UP in price for a while.

If we go by the frequency charts. Then the P1 is flat as fuck for an IEM. For lack of a better term.
So your ears will naturally bring up the vocal range a bit. But the nice thing about something this flat is that it should EQ very very well and predictably. So adding a bit of spice should not be a problem.

Having a nice close look at the graph. We can see there is a very slight rolloff on the bass that starts around 100hz. However it only drops from ~82db down to 70-72db by the time it hit’s 20 hz so really not much of a roll at all.
The typical vocal range of 85hz to 255hz is very flat with a shift of maybe 3db.
Higher singing frequencies up 500hz are also really flat.
Orchestral wind and string frequencies are also really good with that elevated peak from 1khz which will give higher frequency wind instruments, violins and such a nice little boost.

So essentially that is where all the clarity that Zeos etc are talking about is coming from. That little bit of a boost from 1khz to 4khz ads a ton of clarity in a range people can hear really well.

All in all these are (by the graph) exceptional IEM’s for people who listen to classical, instrumental, opera and vocal music because out of the box that is where it makes the most sense.
However any electronic music that takes advantage of highs from 1-4khz will also be great and with a ~5-8db bump on the EQ from 20hz to 80hz will give it the bass that EDM etc needs.

Funnily enough the frequency response from 20hz to 1khz reminds me quite a bit of the Sennheiser HD650 tbh

Especially that very slow roll from 100hz to 20hz which you can also see on the HD600

Then again this is all based on frequency graph analysis and not listening since I am waiting for my P1’s to arrive. But if they are anything even remotely close to what I can see graph wise, then they should be winners in my books.

Don’t know where this graph is from, but it’s way better than this one, with a -20dB hole @ 10khz.

Yeah, apparently they’re like Grados done right (sorry). :stuck_out_tongue:

Or you could just buy them on Massdrop shipping the 26th and priced at $149 with no discount code

Purchased these on Drop less than an hour after Z put the video out. Always keep that “emergency audio” budget on standby in case I need to buy something exceptional right away lol

Thanks so much, this really helped, I cancelled my order and am probably going to buy the t2 that you suggested as well as the fiio q1 mark2 which is a dac/amp combo.

My graph for the Tin P1 is from Anthony Nguyen as part of his review here Tin Hifi P1 Planar IEM: Review which was posted by @DPaudio at the top.

Yours is from here Tin HiFi P1 Unboxing – In-Ear Fidelity

The Crinacle graph does have the same general picture as Anthony’s, but yes that 10k dip is a bit more excessive on the Crinacle graph. It will be interesting to see other graphs coming out in the following weeks or months.

Lord I hate Grados. The rolloff on the highs and mids is just more and more as you head up the stack (with a few exceptions and those exceptions are stupidly expensive). The 60’s and 80’s were my favorite. But I hate the on ear dish sponge foam pad thing. I really can’t deal with it. The only on ear pads I could deal with for a decent period of time were the AKG Q460 because they didn’t have to sit on the outer ear.

No problem. Glad i could help and I think you made an excellent choice.
The Fiio Q1 is a nice choice for a good portable that also works at home.
It has a decent amount of power (especially balanced it had quite a lot more than single ended), great battery life as well as line in and out.
I am really glad Fiio did the K3 too. Basically the Q1 but no battery and more input options and a touch more power on the single ended. Both excellent products that complement each other on the product stack well.

You certainly do have that option, but I’m impatient. Massdrop won’t ship until end of July; Linsoul starts shipping “early birds” by the end of this month. Luckily I was up early enough to use a coupon code on Linsoul’s site, so I had some time to see who was delivering the quickest before purchasing.

Would anyone of you recommend the Monoprice Thx Portable for these?

I have an LG V35, but some people say it won’t be enough.

I have a CTH and a Fulla 2, and the THX could replace those since I’m not at my desk most of the time anyway. I have Sennheiser 6XXs and 630VBs too.

Sure why not. It has tons of power, has a ton of options and is clean.

The LG will put sound out but it will chop it down significantly because it will lack power for when the P1’s really need to get moving.

Could you get away with something cheaper. Sure you can. But totally up to you how much you want to spend, the quality you expect out and the features you want.
Essentially the THX portable is the reasonably priced endgame portable dac amp.
I am sure that will make some people argue “but this is better because it has this feature”. But I think the THX portable has a good range covered.

Anyone else is free to weigh in. Hifiguides in complaining that I am posting too much on this topic and that maybe I should invite other people to post XD

Lol. I always use stupid nicknames that people can relate with for the lols.

And I don’t know about that with some of the people around here wanting to buy multi thousand dollar gear.

You know it’s crazy. People are still going apeshit about Linsoul canceling their initial early bird coupon code.
I was just going to the site to look at some other things, I load up the first page that pops up when i type “Lins” which is the Tin P1 page. I get pushed down to the comments (I guess my browser remembered that as where I was last. idk).
Then i see comments like this:

:worried: I am VERY DISAPPOINTED at what seems to be VERY QUESTIONABLE and UNETHICAL business practices. Clicking on a link within email notification sent me by Linsoul with very specific price, including promocode, and well within given window timeline
(like others) I find I was charged the full price. This would be illegal in the US and MOST other countries. Obviously integrity is something Linsoul finds incomprehensible
While this was my first order with Linsoul, I suspect it is also my last. I am sure I will never do business with them again! I strongly suspect they will not be delivering as scheduled or as promised either. This sort of customer service is what KILLS COMPANIES!

OR

 The problem is that Linsould lied: “TinHiFi P1 IEM is for Super Early Bird Launch from 20th to 26th of June on linsoul or Drop”. Super early bird did not last even 6 hours on linsoul.com, let alone 6 days as they said it would. I checked when sale opened and code worked fine. I was in a rush and since I read that it would be discounted for 6 days I thought to order when I come back in a few hours. Well, early bird ended in a meantime, only several hours after it started and Linsoul miss-guided all of us that believed them (and they still are; as 26th of June is in 5 days). Shameful practice Linsoul! I understand that everyone is after profit but you should stick to what you say if you want to keep your customers trust! You can delete this post but that would only create more posts elsewhere! :zipper_mouth_face:

All they had to do was send an email to the Linsoul and they would have gotten a coupon code. Such salty mofos.

While I agree Linsoul should have probably noted on their site and promotional emails something like “discount code valid while stocks last” or “discount code limited to first x customers”.
I can’t abide by people being salty cucks because they didn’t get a discount and didn’t bother to try and contact the company directly and ask.

Lol yeah i feel the same just checked out the cancer that is Tin Hifi comment section and i was like im glad i bought from Massdrop instead. Still got that discount and atleast i can complain to Massdrop about things should it come to that. I feel that contacting Linsoul would be worse than going through Massdrop. I had some issues getting my Tin T2 and T2 Pros in one of the drops a month ago and atleast i could count on Massdrops customer support.

I would never rely on massdrop support. The first and last time I joined a drop (like a year ago).
Massdrop fucked up the shipment by sending the wrong item (I ordered some game cards and they sent the wrong ones) and it took 1 month
yes you read that right
32 days to respond in total.
Their response was, “well if you want us to replace it with the correct item you need to first send back the item you received at your cost and then we will pay the cost of the shipping of the correct product”.
Never mind that I would have to pay import tax and duties twice, never mind that shipping from my country to the US is insanely expensive (more than the cards cost. I only got it through them because you can’t buy them here and I couldn’t find an amazon store that shipped here).
To add icing to the cake they said I had to ship it back to them within 10 business days because the drop had ended so long ago. Whose fault is that? exactly.

I gave up on it because I already spent 25-30 dollars on the cards, 30 something on shipping and another 10 on import duties. I was not going to spend another 50 to ship the wrong stuff back and then pay again for import.

Basically from my experience at least. Their support is absolutely shit and so is their attitude.

Since then I have never joined any other drop and they have also removed my country from all drops as far as i am aware. Except for the very very rare occasion. I think a friend mentioned they were looking and could only find one item in months.

Massdrop can suck a fat D.

By comparison it took 3 hours for linsoul to email me back when I asked them nicely for a discount code after they had closed the early bird discount because of flood buying.
And if Linsoul can get first shot at selling new TinHifi products with how big TinHifi is in the ChiFi IEM world, then they probably have a very sturdy foundation. Never mind they process with Paypal. So if you feel screwed then you can poof their money away real easy.

So to me I would rather trust Linsoul to be brutally honest.

But that’s just my personal opinion.

See i had a harder time with Linsoul because they kept pushing back the ship date for my drop and then it took forever for them to respond where as everything else i have gotten from massdrop shipped on time and was undamaged. I also live in the US so i dont have to deal with import duties and other costs. I guess massdrop is just going to have a hard time dealing with other countries because of all that.

If they did that I am assuming they probably screwed up by underestimating the demand for the things you bought or there were issues with the quality of the product delivered to them, so they sent them back and asked the delivering company to fix it.
The one thing Chinese companies are not the best at is communication of problems with a thing.
If there is a delay they often wont announce it or say why unless a lot of people ask.
It is a Chinese cultural thing about saving face by not taking responsibility until responsibility must be taken.
Here is a great quote from an article by the global times China:

in the eyes of the Chinese, taking responsibility and coming clean on a dispute puts that person in a position of “losing face,” which is the worst thing that can happen to a Chinese.

Losing face in a large way like this could cause career death for some people. Because it would travel around from business to business. “oh that person admitted to messing up on that thing. We aren’t going to hire them”.

So for a large company someone will eventually take responsibility for large fuckups. But if they can avoid it they will.
This is the same reason why they have not disclosed on their product page for the Tin P1’s that the discount code was discontinued because there were too many orders. The same reason why they try to tell salty fucks in the comments to contact them without saying much more. Because they don’t mind giving the discount code. They just don’t want to publicly admit they fucked up if possible.

On the other end with Massdrop. They make you wait and wait and wait because they want to make sure they have all their stock first before they have their shipping date.
That is why the super early bird people that bought from Linsoul will get their P1’s before people on massdrop get theirs.
Massdrop STARTS shipping on the 26th of July. Linsoul ships super early bird at the end of this month.
People after super early bird get theirs starting on the 10th of July.
Even I might get mine before Massdrop people even though I missed out on super early bird.
If I don’t I don’t care. Because the international shipping is FREE and it is 7-12 day shipping. So I have no problem with that.
