From amazon canada fyi
Ah well shit. hopefully itās an easy return
Amazon is good for that
Lol their site on the box doesnāt even lead to anything
Made a bunch sold them and ghosted lol
Seems Iām in the market for a dac lol
SMSL M100 out of the question?
Might go a little higher end⦠what price point do I need to hit to get a transparent dac?
I mean define transparent lol, if you wanted something somewhat uncolored the enog 2 pro is pretty nice, the jds labs el dac ii also stands out to me. There is the topping d50s but I donāt know if itās the best idea to buy topping right now, and I would get the su8 if you want the features on there
Uncolored is what I mean (damn subjective definitions)⦠the d50s is having clone issues as well?
I would just be weary of topping overall at the moment, playing safe here lol (I would prefer the el dac II or the enog 2 pro anyway imo)
Alright cool⦠Iāll research the lot
Even the boxes look the same. Wow.
Punctilious profiteers
The d10 is back on Drop it seems.
How does it sound? And what did you have before?
Wow thats not good. Would think the D10 is way better than any dac on any MB
not the d10ās fault MOBOS are really good these days. d10 is still better to my ears but the gap is slowly closing. some mobos Ive heard sounded good enough and had enough power to basically just make the fiio e10k and fx audio dac x6 irrelevant.
I had the dac x6 and it sounded way better than my Z170 mobo i had. I have a pretty old Msi Z97 Gaming 6 mobo now so sure the D10 will be way better.
@RiceGuru is correct as most modern gen motherboards have decent to pretty good onboard sound. The drawback to onboard audio (besides the obvious design limitations) is that it is prone to interference, due to where most onboard audio chips are located on a mobo (normally near the rear IO and above the PSU). Iāve also noticed (at least in my experience) that the more items you have populated in PCIE slots, the higher probability of interference, or unwanted noise of some nature. Motherboards that are budget oriented also can cause unreliable power swings due to cheaper parts being utilized⦠but that is a separate issue all together.
Motherboard manufacturers such as ASUS and EVGA have recently started focusing more on the design and implementation of their onboard audio chips. EVGAās CEO Andrew Han is a huge audiophile himself and has personally made audio a priority in EVGA R&D. EVGA featured their EVGA NU Soundcard last year at CES 2019. Unfortunately, it suffers from similar issues that have hampered onboard audio and soundcards in the past. Still, it is a step in the right direction IMO.
How does the D10/D30 DAC sound compare to other budget entry-level combo DAC/amp like the DAC-X6, Fiio K3, Zen, or even BTR5/UP4 BT receivers?
