Alright a bit of first impressionsā¦ I feel like Iām gna sound like everyone elseā¦ anyway letās go:
Disclaimer: my points of references are HD6XX, Blon bl03ās and Thieaudio Legacy 4ās. The L4ās I use on the go and the HD6XX at home, the blās donāt get much use.
Tuning is well done as said before resulting in pleasant listening and the best timbre in acoustic guitars Iāve heard thusfar, I need more mental burn-in to get used to the midbass quantity which lacks on my daily drivers- but compared to the blons itās just many many times tighter and more detailed in this department. The only gripes I could think of, which is not to be expected at this pricepoint because Iām comparing it mostly to the L4ās which are 4 times the price, are the details in the mids - for example in Thom Yorkes Black swan vocals lack compared to the L4ās and the representation of very busy songs making some parts of the bass and lower mids lesser quality but thatās probably because the difference between single dynamic and 1DD 3Baās in the legacies. Iām looking forward to trying the set with a fully silver cable, spinfits and a couple of days of mental (and maybe physical) burn-in. Overal at 50 dollars this feels phenomenal- when I compare it to my other equipment it feels it would still be acceptable at a 100 or even 150. Well done!
No, I really mean that. Look at peaks as well. Iām not doubting you, itās justā¦ strange. Really hoping Mangird doesnāt f*ck up.
Yes. They changed it to 2pin. December last year they also did a revision. Changed box, cable (to worse) and Vents (better now - bigger vent to fix for suction problems)
Everythingās good now LUL
I think the tips I used from the start might have played into this; I was using the wide-bore tips that came with Mele to try to get all the details. Was wowed by the first impression, then started to get piercing on the 2nd day, then tip roll from day 3, and Perfection at day 4.
Pretty close to my experience. I changed the tips a day earlier.
The moment I got the box of ear tips out was listening to Babe Iām Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin and the repeated cymbal strikes during the chorus. Once I switched away from the stock tips that wasnāt so harsh. It needed something to pull the treble back just a bit, which wasnāt what I was expecting.
After trying out a few tips, I am using Final Series E right now, which is working very well, but I have a pair of CP145 coming that I want to try too.
YES, do a tip roll. For me the Final E is the best, CP145 doesnāt maintain that much detail for me but itās pretty close to the Final E. Then again, everyoneās hearing and ear canals are built different so always good to try when can
Yes that is why you have to roll tips. I find the cp 145 superior to final e but all ours ears are different. I have had final e on and felt it was congested and to dark. That is just my findings. The fact in all fairness I never end up using finals. They are always a bridesmaid never the bride.
I am usually the same way, I tend to end up comparing the CP100 vs Final E and the Es go back in the box.
The Spiral Dots always finish last. The only IEMs that I have run those on for any length of time was the Moondrop SSP, but they were a bit bass heavy, so it helped balance them.
Aside from head banging tracks, this Duel of the Fates is worth a listen too. Mele works well at the low end without killing you with the highs of the trumpetsā¦
