Try more eartips. There is no other salvation.
do you mean it has less treble? because as you can see all the mest series have recessed upper mids that makes their sound warm and soft, i guess thats why they are popular.
Im using CIEM
Oh actually I perceived the Mest Mk1 to have good uppermids, hence i got the CIEM version. Maybe i have been wrongā¦
It seemed to me that people liked the Mest, because of the uppermids (UIEM Mk1, in particular). But however, the CIEM seems alot warmer than bright.
yeah just found this graph. the custom has less lower and upper treble compared to the universal and the upper mids are similar.
Oh no, does anyone have the same issue with their mest CIEM being too warm? Is there anyway i can solve this issue, cable swapping, EQing , etc.?
cables wont do anything, just eq tbh. try and see how the mest reacts with eq.
Does making custom affect IEMs in general? Because it affects the mest significantly?
I think EQ does the trick. But if the CIEM already sounds warm in its stock, that might already be a problemā¦ lolā¦
Yes typically when you go custom with almost any IEM, it creates a smoother and more laid back Treble presentation, both due to the deeper insertion and a true 100% seal, assuming the mold is done properly. I would never expect the change to be this drastic however. Thatās a few good dBs less on the treble. This is what Iāve always been taught but I could be wrong.
idk, ask someone who knows more about the physical stuff.
like you see how the universal diva differs from custom. as you can see the custom has much lower treble quality that the universal. but keep in mind each 711 coupler differs slightly from others and you canāt fully trust 2 different measurements from different couplers for the same iem.
In terms of uppermids, they are same with custom and universal?
Yeah They look identical up to 4.5k( minus the slight subbass difference). I count 200hz to 1k region as lower mids and 1k to 4k region as upper mids.
Selling MEST Mk1.
Pm if interested!
I escaped the audiophile chase with these IEMs. I think these have been my endgame since I got MEST MKII after Black Friday in 2022. No major purchases of IEMs since besides a few things, mostly budget stuff. Also ZERO headphone purchases since picking up the MEST MKII. I got to try a bunch of IEMs in E-Earphone in Tokyo, didnāt walk out of the store with anything really expensive besides a Acoustune 1750cu, which I thought was a fun little souvenir for my vacation, not something to replace my MEST.
Iām wondering, folks who have have tried MEST MKII and moved on or upgraded, what did you move to?
Noble Onyx
I upgraded from the MK II to the MK III CF, but honestly, I liked the sound of the MK II better. Itās just my personal preference, though. Both are great.
I have MEST OG and while I was previously in deep love with them since I got Softear Twilights in Nov last year I took the MESTs out maybe twice or trice and mainly due to their better passive noise isoloation.
2 caveats:
- Twilights have completely different sound signature so they are definitely not a direct upgrad. Their bass focus is in mid-bass section and therefore they are more meaty (which is important for me when I listen mostly to live/acoustic instruments), but because of that they are less clean in mids overall. But A/Bing against MESTs I just feel it is the second that has some part of the natural music reproduction done wrong and not the otherwise. Twilights also feel much more fun and engaging for music listening and hey, it is what it is all about I guess?
- MESTs are still fantastic when I listen to them especially for clean mids reproduction in angelic female vocals for me (Lana del Rey, Hania Rani as good examples). They also have very good sub-bass, which would be better for modern fun music that I donāt listen to too much.
I have done the same (for IEMs anyway). I have purchased different tips to tweak it a little but I am seriously thinking of getting a custom version. I should branch out a little ā¦maybe.
Myself as well. Love the Mest MkII so much!
