Unique Melody Mest

I’ve had mine for a few months, and just got my ears scanned and getting them re-shelled to CIEM

The last tips I settled on was the Spinfit CP1025, a tip that nobody seems to have talked about with the MEST MK2. The way I went about it was, use the smallest size tips that would give me a proper seal, to allow to deeper insertion, therefore better contact with the body of the MEST to my ear.

As for source, it really depends no your use.

Best result I got with desktop use at home:
Foobar2000 → iFi Pro iDSD → Monoprice Liquid Platinum (XLR)

For portable use, I have used BTR5, Fiio M11, Samsung USB-C dongle, iPod 5th Gen, a bunch of Minidisc players, and they all sounded decent.

I did find myself wanting to listen to a desktop setup over anything portable though. It could be because there is more power from the desktop amps, or a quieter environment from the home setup

Hope this information helps

I haven’t really used them much as I had other things to attend. Will try this with different things when I return home in a day or two.

I’m guessing the ifi zen dac will be a good pair with it

full metal shell interesting, let me guess $2000 at least for the IEM + a $1000 cable so $3000 minimum :joy:

oh wow. never heard either the og or the mkii, maybe third time’s the charm

I own both the Mest MK2 and the Monarch MK2 and I have exactly this approach; the Mon MK2 are my daily driver at the desk with my daily setup. When I want a detailed and very clear listening session, I pull out the Mest MK2.
It is not like I prefer one over the other, they are just different and both very very good IEMs.

Fit is no problem for either, so no problem in that area. And I highly rec both and none of them will leave my collection; together with my Moondrop S8 and the Ikko OH10 (cheap but so addictive), they are the 4 IEMs that will never leave.

I’m most curious how it sounds compared to the MKII. Also, do they have a price listed?

Mk3 has 2 extra estat drivers and updates BC. So basically they said it’s Indigo with new BC. The sound signature is slightly more mid centric vs V shaped Mk2.
The price should be around $1700.

Funny you.mentioned them, but I just picked up a pair of OH10s from the for sale thread here. Unfortunately, I am out of the country right now and my girl got to them first and really seems to be diggin’ them so I may not get to try them afterall. :joy:

Damn I got mk2s 2 weeks ago and that’s the only thing I would’ve liked better. Tho not gonna spend again.

That’s how supposed to look like the Mk3 production unit.
On the Demo unit there is a switch to turn off BC.

If you had a good deal on Mk2 then don’t worry about Mk3.

Did you happen to attend CanJam NYC this past weekend? The MEST MKIII was literally right in front of me at one point but it kept getting pulled in 4 different directions so I couldn’t get my ears on them - I wasn’t willing to wait any longer, honestly.

Yeah got a decent deal on them. Though the fit isn’t really very good with me till now have to tip roll a bit more I guess.

yes, I took these pictures at Canjam NYC

Hi, I got my Mest MK1 CIEM made a few months ago. Sound-wise, I found it to be warmer than the UIEM, to the point i feel like they have a different sound signature. My big issue with the CIEM is that the uppermids are too recessed, as opposed to the UIEM, which are bright. Is there anyway i can bring the Mest mk1 CIEM to sound more like the UIEM, or am i stucked with this issue?
