I wore a basic cheapo “fashion watch” for many years, so this is nice for me.
nice! Seiko is my poersonal favorite watch manufaturer some of the best value around definitely beats anything MVMT or VINCERO has ever made also would look really nice on a black leather strap I would think
RiceGuru, I did a bunch of research and made the same conclusion. Best value to be sure.
I’ve always liked the look of the Omega Seamaster, but if I ever decided to spend 5k on something that is a non kid, for family’s future type expense I would probably choose something else. Like maybe a pair of Focal Utopias??
I mean if we are talking koss ksc 75’s level of value I woul d proably look at timex or casio offerings
Just got some yaxi pads for my koss
I’ve done that before. Don’t feel bad
I bought (2) pairs of Massdrop X Sennheiser HD-6XX headphones; one for me to keep my HD-660S company, and one for my brother to play with the Fiio BTR-3 I got him this summer.
nice choice!
I wear a Seiko SKX 007 since 2012 every day in use with different Zulu, leather, metal and neopren wristbands
the SKX takes a beating and works without service for over 20 years and longer
the 41 hour power reserve is enough
the glowing elements can bring you thru a night, if you give em a few seconds a strong light source
the heritage is another point with this model… (Apocalypse Now…)
here in europe there is a big modding community on this special one
the this fall updated version is no longer a real diver - more a mainstream thing
Welp I guess I wasn’t immune from the cyber monday deal I got and picked up another mic for the studio being the Josephson C700S (which I can recoup the costs from by just renting it out to people in the future)
Ok, i lied… 1 more purchase before the end of the year…
Just ordered a set of Hart Audio cables for my HD58X’s…
While my purchases weren’t exactly today, I might as well summarize what I did get or ordered during November as a whole. This month sure had no mercy on my wallet.
I snagged the Hiby R5 on 11.11 for 44$ less, which was really neat since I also jumped a huge hit by customs in doing so. Win/win. Very pleased with it so far, waiting for 4,4 cable and a larger sdxc card before I finalize my review on it.
Amazon had nice deals on SDXC cards, so I ended up buying another 400GB card, as I had a great experience with them for my Switch.
At the same time I also picked up an SMSL SP200, which SMSL finally had put up on their official Amazon store in Germany. Another customs charge dodged!
So yeah, an eventful month. Will be really interesting to see how the SP200 is when it arrives now on Wednesday (just in time for me to get off my night shifts).
Finally I get to fiddle with THX and I get to replace my nearly 15 year old Harmony Design EAR 90. That amp was a beast back then, being compared to Benchmark DAC1. It seems only fitting to have an amp now that competes with the Benchmark HPA4, for a tenth of the price.
TL;DR: I’m a happy, albeit poor man.
Oh yeah, I also ordered 3 sets of cables from Hart Audio Cables, along with that lovely multi-kit. RIP wallet. At least I’m set for another 15 years going by the longevity of my previous hardware
Wow I haven’t heard someone mention harmony design in a long time. It seems they are still making products too which I didn’t know
Edit: also it seems you’ve mentioned it a couple times before and I have just completely missed it lol
Yeah, Mattias Stridbeck is still producing them. I had a chat with him not too long ago when I was starting to look around for new gear or potential upgrades. The old EAR 90 is nice and powerful. But it certainly isn’t clean enough or have low enough noise floor to deal with current day IEMs. The buzzing sound will turn any normal man mad, regardless of how good it sounds haha.
He did give me a nice offer and trade-in if I wanted to get his latest creations. But it was still looking to be a 1500-2000€ bill for that… Something I wasn’t really prepared for when I’ve found so much great stuff for ridiculously low prices as of late. HiFi doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg anymore to sound great, which was more of a thing back then in the early 2000’s.
So yeah, off I went on the great Chi-Fi hunt, and the coveted THX 789 mirage looming on the horizon of Massdrop finally materialized itself infront of me as the SMSL SP200, as SMSL finally pushed out an alternative that could actually be bought, and delivered. Without having to wait half a year of shipping and management hell.
Yeah, thx and chifi has really changed the amp scene for sure, well I hope you enjoy your new gear when it gets there (hope the wait won’t be too brutal lol)
I already got the R5 and I’ve been enjoying the hell out of it so far. The cables are uncertain, even though I ordered earlier, they still told me it’ll be a 3 week effort on their part, due to getting custom cables for LCD-2 CB’s and HD700. But as long as they’re here before Christmas I’m happy.
The amp will arrive on Wednesday though, since they had them in local stock in Germany. Postal delivery luckily enough coincides with me waking up after my night shifts, so it’ll be a great week for sure!
I did actually order something on Black Friday, now that I think of it. I bought a 4,4mm cable for my Blon BL-03’s, some 4 pairs of blue T2 tips (or what seemed to be the same) and a small case to fit my IEM’s and DAP. All for a whopping 22 bucks
This is going to be a long wait though, aliexpress had a long arse delivery time for this particular purchase for some reason. Probably won’t be here before Christmas. But no rush, I’m more hype for the other things. This is just a convenience purchase.
I didn’t even know about this. I am a long time fan of the movie, but a new one to Seiko divers. That “turtle” model Sheen wears is almost as big on the wrist as his hair in the film.
There are watch people on this board too? Nice. My daily driver for the past couple of years has been a Seiko SKX009 - same as the 007 except with a Pepsi bezel. I rotate them fairly regularly on a bunch of NATO straps. Mine probably needs a service, though - the reserve seems to be down a bit and when I stick it in my (newly bought) watch winder it runs a touch fast.
Then recently I decided I wanted a second, slightly different watch, but I liked Seiko as a whole. So I ended up with this:
What can I say? I liked the striking gold and green combination.
My major purchases from eBay, Amazon, and Lazada for the current holiday season obasically are:
- Seiko SARB017 watch
- vintage Seiko GMT world time mantel clock
- SMSL SAP200 THX amplifier
- generic watch winder
- Tin T2 IEM
- multiple (more than a dozen) naval history books (both e-book and paper)
- two 8TB WD External drives (for shucking in my NAS)
- Sennheiser HD660S (bought Renewed off Amazon)
- Kindle and iPad cases
- set of custom cables from Hart Audio Cables
- set of watch straps from Crown and Buckle
Yeah, it’s been a busy shopping season… and a great deal of it still has to be shipped to me from the US. My credit card got a workout…
I really don’t wear watches but I do have a Rolex GMT-Master II Batman that my dad gave to me and an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph orange. Honestly I just keep them in a safe lol
Edit: actually the only times I wear them is when I have important business meetings because for some reason I feel really out of place without a watch when meeting with higher ups.
