fuck yo couch!
The Chappelle Show was by far the best sketch comedy show. Pure genius.
Got some tubes in the mail, plus a bit of wire, needed just a bit more for reserves in case I make another tube amp. Going to mod my dadās Darkvoice amp when it gets here, just some minor improvements, heās kinda terrified for some reason, idk.
This is a 500 Foot roll, 18 AWG Solid tinned wire, got a good price, a bit over a dollar every 10 feet, not bad, works great for what I need it for, put a tube on top for a size comparison. !
This is an Emerson tube that tested well, gonna give it to my dad for his Darkvoice, Iād imagine itāll sound better than the stock tubes (besides sometimes the tubes may come broken due to shipping so just in case either way). !
Sylvania Chrome Dome, Gonna use it for my amp when Iām done, always curious how one of these sound (also looks neat imo).
This is an RCA 6AS7, tested good, and again, should be better than the stock tubes on a Darkvoice.
Oh also waiting on some matched 5998 Tubes, getting them Monday, the low transconductance variety with the Domino Plates, heard that 5998A donāt have this feature for some reason, maybe due to the Cathode, or maybe something to do with the Plate shape, idk, also in the spec sheets 5998 actually require slightly less heater current than conventional 6AS7 tubes by 100ma (2.4A vs 2.5A) which is kinda cool since besides lowering output impedance on an OTL, theyāll also work the transformers less. The transformers in my amp can handle 6528 tubes with a heater current of 5A, but I heard 5998 tubes sound better albeit slightly higher transconductance, putting my amp as an OTL somewhere in the ~30 Ohm Impedance, give or take 10 ohm, while using 5998 tubes. My headphones atm are high impedance but either way curious to see the difference.
Like:
6AS7/6080 = ~60 Ohm
5998/421A = ~30 Ohm
6528= ~15 Ohm
Donāt have 6528 tubes yet, need to make sure I can get them matched, but kinda going off with the concept that if a 6AS7 provides a ~120 Ohm impedance on a Darkvoice/Crack, Double the tubes in single ended mode halves that impedance, and halves it again by doubling transconductance, and halves it AGAIN with dual 6528. Either way if it doesnāt work Iāll post me buying some custom 119DA equivalents that can go 20Hz/20kHz instead of 30Hz/20kHz implemented in a similar fashion as the Tuba.
Well I mean, the Crackatwoa can handle a 6528 for example but supposedly that only drops the Output impedance down to ~68 Ohm from a reply I got from Bottlehead (great answer by the way, helped to figure some stuff out), so going off that number, using double 6528 tubes can reduce Output impedance to ~34 Ohm, which isnāt as low as I want it to be especially with such a high heater-current tube, but idk, since the Crack would in theory have a lower output impedance if the concept of doubling transconductance was true, idk, only one way to find out I guess.
I had to try the porta pro and the T2 after everything I heard about them. Very curious to see how I like them.
Shouldnāt be disappointed!
I ordered a Periapt cable for my Focal Elegia. Love the Elegia, but the stock cable sucks donkey nuts.
Thatās just all the focal cables lol, I would say that the cable on the listen pro is much better than the one that comes on their higher end lol
Is that the more compact closed back?
Howās the sound on that one?
Pretty good, mild w shape sound, worthwhile imo
Better than Neumann?
Different, I would rather use the ndh20 for studio imo, but prefer the focal for casual listening (the regular non pro listen isnāt that great tho imo)
Tin T2s are pretty good, gotta give them some burn in though, treble at the beginning was a bit tinny, and bass wasnāt the best, give it 100 hours or so of just using them, they really get good after that, treble is as I want it to be, bass came up a bit, overall for 50 bucks itās a pretty great buy.
Just ordered a Schiit Bifrost 2. Probably wont arrive until Monday or Tuesday next week
Here a follow upā¦ its actually pretty nice but maybe not worth the money for some folksā¦ separation and dynamics and width are big benefits with this compared to the s10+ headphone jackā¦ pairs nice with a kph30i for my mobile purposes
Thanks for the update. In this case the dongle ends up being more expensive than the headphone lol But of course itāll drive other cans so itās convenient to have. Glad you like it
Thatās awesome, congratulations.
Lol yeahā¦ but I legitimately love these headphones so I dont mindā¦ ease and simplicity and size are big priorities for me in regards to mobile use
