What did you buy today? (Part 1)

I’ve been on a buying binge and these came in today. You’re probably asking if I already own a pair of HD800 & HD800S why would I spend money on a HD700? They were in pretty much brand new condition and got them for dirt cheap. I actually the enjoy the sound and don’t find it weird sounding like most people do.

Depends what you want it for I guess. I only use mine for traveling so I’m mostly using it to ignore the outside world but not really get too caught up in the music (in case the plane crashes and I feel like scattering myself over a wide area).

i’d probably use them for both travelling in a car in a passenger seat and listening while AFK

Focal Clear Pro’s…because RED, I like the red a bunch. Sometimes I buy stuff just because of stupid reasons like this.

Speaking as someone who owns pretty much the whole Focal lineup, :zipper_mouth_face:

Nice!! It will match the Phonitor perfectly, in color and sound!

 I gotcha, totally relatable.

If they are as good/better than the Elex’s you are in for a BIG treat! :+1:

With that spl amp I can easily say better imo lol (as long as you don’t mind a bit more neutral signature)

I prefer the clears, by a lot. But I can see how some would find the Elex more pleasing.

I like Clears better for analytical listening–they’re extremely non-fatiguing and do a great job of presenting track elements in an uncluttered way. But I do enjoy Elex for general recreational listening; they’ve got a little more bass, and a little more forward mids.

End of the day, though, both are great. I don’t disagree with “red pads” as the deciding factor. That’s legitimate reasoning. :smirk:

Same here, that was mostly fixed with getting a Bifrost 2 DAC.

oh that’s really cool. I’ll have to take a look later. Can’t help too much on the thai front but I may know someone who can translate lol.

If your still curious on the earbuds after talking to the maker some more. They are titanium drivers put into a sennheiser MX 500 shell clone tuned to be a dark bassy earbud.

What were you using as a DAC before?

Airist R-2R. It’s a fine DAC but the Airist R-2R + Thx 887 + LCD X just was too dark of a combo. In contrast, works amazing with my Blon B20.

Ordered two of these, one for my KSC75s and one as a backup or for my Porta Pros. Very curious how they are, unfortunately shipping time is 5-12 working days :frowning:.
