I just do guitar Tube Amps but did you need to raise you raise the Plate Voltage going from EL84 to 7189? Should improve headroom.

No adjustments necessary as the voltage difference is only .100. So at least for the Tuba, EL84, 6BQ5, 7189 and 6P15, CV2975 and N709 should all work.

My bass guitar amp uses 12au7, 12at7 and 6L6 tubes, so here and there I do tinker with that.

Yeah I looked at themm and they look good and the font is tasteful vey unrazer like. I just like ducky’s plastics quality and sound on this keyboard. hopefully the razers give me a better sound which is what Im most concerned about personally

When it comes to the 1More Piston Fit… I can’t stand them. Not because of the sound, but I can hear my movements, though the sounds persist if I’m not really moving.
The FiiO M5 is taking a little getting used to, and it seemed like it needed to get used to my SD card. Kept having to restart the unit and reseat the card.
As for the case, I prefer it VASTLY to the stock case for the Starfields. Much wider, allowing for larger loops, keeping things much more pleasant

Got everything but the 6XX’s in today. A few months back I decided to sell my headphones/IEMs (except my EDC3) and I missed having them around. I didn’t want to go overboard as I had done prior so I limited myself to $750 for a Headphone, IEM and Amp/DAC for both. First thing I looked for was a Sennheiser HD6XX, which I found on Reddit in like new condition for $160 shipped. This isn’t really a steal price but I didn’t want to wait for a super cheap pair to pop up. Then I looked for an Amp/DAC for the HD6XX and there aren’t too many options for what I need. I use my headphones while laying in bed so I much prefer to have something with bluetooth capabilities so I can use my phone as a source easily. Owning a Topping DX3 Pro in the past I knew it was a great option and found a used one with all accessories for $120 shipped, I consider that a pretty good deal for what you get in this little device. I knew I wanted a higher end IEM because it will get the most use and I saw that a pair of Massdrop x Empire Ears Zeus were posted for $550 a few weeks prior on Reddit. I decided to give a low ball a shot and offered $350, to which he hesitated and accepted without negotiation. This was by far the best deal of the lot, I sold my last pair of these for $645 just 2 months ago. Having the Zeus prior I knew there was only one or two options for an Amp/DAC within my price range, the Zeus are very sensitive so if you don’t pair them with the right equipment you will get some serious hissing. I saw a post in the headphones discord showing off the EarStudio ES100 MK2 for $76 plus $3 off with coupon and decided to check it out, I then noticed it didn’t charge tax because it was shipping from South Korea (which somehow arrived in 3 days). I hopped on that deal immediately, they do pop up for around $60 used every once and a while but I figured i’d be better off buying brand new for just $13 extra. Total on that came out to $72.99 and I ended my shopping spree spending $702.99, which is $47 under budget. Couldn’t be happier with what I got for $700!

Just an update on the RCA 7189 tubes I received the other day…

So, these RCA 7189 tubes are the winner over all of the other tubes I’ve rolled on the Tuba. The 6P14P-EV Soviet Reflektor tubes come close, but the RCA are a class above.

The RCA 7189 are better IMO because they have a more balanced sound across the frequency response. They also have a much wider soundstage than any of the tubes I have rolled. The main thing that sets them apart is that I feel the RCA tubes give me a more accurate stage and imaging on a 3D level (if that makes sense). For my HD650 to have a 360 degree soundstage is impressive as I feel that the Sennheiser HD650 (and HD600) falls victim of the “3 blob” staging issue under normal circumstances, even on most of the tubes I’ve tried. The 6P14P-EV tubes did widen the soundstage, but the RCA 7189 tubes seen to have reshaped it entirely. There is some magic in these tubes. They aren’t being moved from my Tuba until they die.

I’d be really interested to hear those RCA 7189 tubes since I found the stock tubes to have minimal impact on sound stage. But can you even get those tubes new anymore? I did a quick google search and it didn’t look promising.

No, those are NOS (New Old Stock) tubes. I was able to find mine off of ebay from a reputable dealer that I have purchased from before. Ebay is a crapshoot though. thetubestore.com is probably the most reputable site to purchase tubes from.

Org Music made a grab bag a couple weeks ago for $25 they sent 2 albums at random. They have a pretty solid catalog, so I went for it. I will listen to them today if I can. Pretty happy with their choices though!

Yeah sometimes i think what i might do if my house burned down with all my audio equipment. I’d get a Archel2 amp for 140$ with a Topping E30 DAC 130$ I’d get them used if i could. Then i’d get a Sundara = 520$

I’m running the e30 and Archel 2.5 in my home office setup with the Tuba also. For the price, the e30 and Archel 2.5 are really good.

Does the Archel 2.5 sound better than the 2? or is it just more connections?

Imo the 2.5 has more drive for most headphones, so I think it’s a worthwhile pick over the regular 2
