Very exciting!

I think for me, itā€™s also a matter of best I can practically afford. Like in ideal world. I would sell another script and itā€™d help pay for my big ticket items. But as it stands thatā€™s looking unlikely due to current global circumstances. So the question becomes whatā€™s the highest end I can do affordably on my paycheck. That means Elac Debut Reference or Decware, Mapletree audio, Denafrips etc

Decware and Denafrips are both really great brands, IMO.

Theyā€™re also much more affordable/Bang for the buck than something like Bryston (though I really do want an amp from themā€¦ also Canadian Made)
EDIT, realized I repeated myself.
What I was trying to get at is that the quality of Decware is obviously undeniable and exists at an attainable level for a larger number of people compared to something like Bryston
EDIT 2 Iā€™d throw schiit in there too.

Side note. One thing I like about Decware is they play electronic music in some of their demos. Too many audiophile companies refuse to play stuff in their demos that isnt some church choir singing with an army of mandolins and a taiko drum backing them up

Soo, my ifi micro black label edition portable amp/dac showed up a few days ago. Iā€™ve been eyeballing this little sucker for months now but refused to take the plunge for lack of a needā€¦Anyway now that itā€™s here i realize just how truly versatile this powerhouse of a little unit is. Initial impressions are very positive, especially with IEMā€™s. I absolutely love how much control it gives me over power and how DEAD SILENT i can make the background, no frigggin hiss at allā€¦ahhh nirvana for me.

Out of interest mate have you tried to drive any power hungry HPā€™s with it say 600ohm and Argons etc?

No not yet, there are just not enough hours in the day to play with everything, I am using it as a pre-amp at the moment to run the desktop system and I must say there is GREAT synergy going on. I am really digging the x-bass and 3D features, they are making these tiny little radial Decware speakers I have been playing w/ really pop with fun sound. This amp has so many features crammed into its chassis I was skeptical at first if it could do anything well and it has proved me 100% wrong, it really is versatile and rich in quality, as of this moment I canā€™t recommend it enough for anyone thatā€™s been on the fence of grabbing one.
I really just wanted it for the DAC and to use with IEMā€™s and I am finding the possibilities endlessā€¦ :muscle:

I had an IFi amp a few years ago. Didnā€™t impress me a whole lot except the X-bass and 3D.
I think iFi has the best implementation of bass boost. At least with anything I have ever heard. Also 3D is really fun.

Yeah I use mine for iemā€™s too but was interested what you could push HP wiseā€¦I donā€™t use the 3d but I do use XBass bass when iā€™m in the mood for bass shy iemā€™s :+1:

For the price, it better compete with LakePeople headphone amps in absolute blackness.

A shame the 3.5mm input is in the frontā€¦

Since I have not heard the Lake People products I canā€™t say honestly, and Iā€™m not sure if that would be an appropriate comparison, I checked their sight quickly and noticed all their products were triple to six times the price/cost.

It is DEAD silent on IEMā€™s though, I can emphatically speak to that. The DAC is very good, I can speak to that. The extra features are really nice to have in MY SET-UP, and I appreciate them and am having fun playing with them. The unit has versatility and it was under $600 US shipped.
Not saying itā€™s the BEST combo unit out there but for a budget priced piece it is sure giving me some value at the moment :+1:

EDIT to add: Itā€™s all relative when speaking about price and features, I have some other units i use for IEMā€™s which perform admirably, i got this unit mainly for the DAC though because I am enjoying the Burr Brown implementation in another different unit i use elsewhere in the house. This unit alsoo came with MQA ability ready to go and that added some more value to me which helped push me into the purchase finally.
