What did you buy today? (Part 1)

Who the fuck taught you this?
Yes, if you are gaming COMPETITIVELY, you want all the frames. If you are playing games that are more open world (say something like Skyrim), you care more about how the world around your character looks, not the highest possible frame rates.
If you are doing color work, yes, you want the best color accuracy you can get, but higher refresh rate can still be beneficial to workflow.

$200 absolute max, not a penny more, and Iā€™d rather keep costs down.

Because my fucking school said so.

I honestly couldnā€™t put numbers to it. It bounces around from day to day and week to week.

why would your school care how big your screen is? and no need to get testy.

M0N, the Beyerdynamic DT 880s are nice and all but there is a problem, a deal breaker for me that makes me not to buy it anymore. The wire not being detachable is a deal breaker since I admit to myself that I am not too careful with headphones with attached wires, so I have 3 options now instead of getting the DT 880s, Philips SHP9500, Philips Fidelio X2HR apparently there is a stock of those cans here and lastly, if I can get it even though unlikely, the Hifiman HE 4XX.

I have the AOC 32 inch flatā€¦ Love itā€¦ I can not use the curved monitor, my prescription does not play well with itā€¦

Darn lol, well if you can get your hands on a hifiman it would be pretty awesome imo

Even though Iā€™m not the biggest iem guy, I just ordered these:

I had followed along with the original modding posts on sbaf and for $240 I thought it was a good price. Iā€™m not exactly handy, but I can insert cotton into a nozzle. I had missed out on the initial Drop collaboration and havenā€™t seen much talk about it since. That was the version I thought I was ordering when I first clicked purchase on these

TUBES! Moar tubesā€¦ahhhhhā€¦damn this rabbit hole i have fallen into. Stay away from tube amps, you wonā€™t stop searching the corners of the world for different flavors.

Youtube - and the porn industryā€™s adoption of its suffix - have made it annoyingly difficult to use search engines for people with tube amps. :grimacing:

You can mod them, I know there are a few guides on cable replacement for them rolling around the Internet.

Upgraded my TV todayā€¦ Out with the old LG 55" where black where grey and the viewing angle had to be dead on, and in with a new Samsung 55" Q82R ( https://www.samsung.com/no/tvs/qledtv-q82r/QE65Q82RATXXC/ )

Pretty happy with the upgrade, but i better be as the new TV was a bit over what i had first set as my budget.

First impressions are that viewing angle and blacks are soooo much better than my old LG, and the 4k over 1080p is perhaps less of an improvement as long as my sources still are mostly 1080p (streamed some 4k youtube content, and it looked very nice even through the compression of youtube so i guess i just have to update my sources to take advantage of the higher resolution). HDR content looked very vivid (mind you, my reference was that old LG).

Very much depends.
Just donā€™t use Cryonaut for daily driver systems.
And NEVER use thermal adhesive! Because if you do, you will need a syringe, a bent needle, nitro thinner and about a week to get the cooler off again. And I will kick your ass!

nah just got noctua nh 1 to replace my old Mx 4 casue my poc is thermally suffering gonna see why pretty sure its thermal paste. nothing too fancy

NH-1 is surprisingly good. Then again, not the cheapest.
