Just some tubes for the Cayin CS-55-A.
I am quite excited to discover how they sound, I hope they will be a serious upgrade
I’m looking to purchase some very specific music and wanted advice for the best source to purchase. I’d like to buy a bunch of the Transatlantic Session 4 & 5 albums (6-7 in total). I’ve checked both amazon and discogs with no luck finding affordable options ($25+ shipping on most used if available at all in cd format).
Amazon has mp3 purchases and the apple store has most available for $10/album but I believe both are not lossless format.
I can purchase new from the BBC but after vat+shipping it’s like $25/disc as well.
Any other suggestions for purchasing of lossless music with a preference of having physical copies?
Was there only one in stock? I could not find the deal now
That was deal only lasted for a few hours. I don’t know if that was accidental or not on Monoprice’s part, but those who jumped on it got a really good deal.
For the LP, does it do anything a BH Crack doesnt do outside adding sound variety, plays nicer with planars and balanced? Like can this be used in a speaker set up or something?
It is really great for planars, lots of control and impact for power hungry cans, also more detailed and refined than the crack (but that’s not the goal of the crack lol)
So, to dip into the conversation we had in the DMs. Would an LP be suffiecient to power, and more importantly a good synergy with an lcd-3pf? I am also assuming the bf2 is up to the tast from what im seeing.
Yes that is a really good pairing imo, both on the headphone and dac side of things
My need to save to buy and move into a house was hoping you wouldnt say that.
If you want to buy my lcd3 pf and liquid plat let me know lol
Please kindly stop reading my mind good sir.
Im powering it just using USB for now, might upgrade later. Also I just did an AB test using Zen DAC and just plugging my headphones into my laptop and it sounds almost the same
I checked again and I realised my Equaliser APO with a headphone specific EQ is not running on my laptop jack anymore. (was not running on my zen dac during AB). So its weird that my built in soundcard is that good. Maybe the equaliser has problems? Not sure.
Welp… Time to just wait for my HE400i
Hd800s
Had a similar experience myself. My laptop has a good soundcard, so I don’t hear any major difference between it, the iFi Zen DAC, or the FiiO K5 Pro. If anything, I could tell bass response is slightly greater through both DAC/amps compared to my laptop. In addition, music through the DAC/amps sound “cleaner” at very loud volumes. Differences are much more noticeable compared to my phone (guessing it’s more so the amp than DAC).
Not all computer soundcards are good though. Have two desktops downstairs and audio quality through them is absolutely terrible. One even is quite noisy. Although my AD900x didn’t really change, my Porta Pro sounded like airline freebies through the headphone out of both. Frequency response, dynamics, and resolution all changed. Puzzling.
Due to the constant suggestions of the cool users on what to do with my Koss KSC75, by popular demand, here it is for this came today. The orange pair will be for my grandma since she has her own KSC75 as well and I will see it how it goes for my KSC75 after changing the stocks pads.
psst. psst. parts express headband.
I have not had a machine with an internal optical drive since 2014, and have been using an Asus Zen slim external drive for those times when optical was necessary (very rare). Recently, I have been doing a crap ton of re-ripping my entire collection of CD’s to FLAC / replacing my old mp3 files, and I am so tired of messing with that flimsy/slow external drive so…
Ordered one of these this morning.
