What did you buy today? (Part 1)

Doesn’t mean it doesn’t piss me off a bit that everything is fuckin dying at the same god damn time when I’m trying to pull the trigger on that damn car around the turn of the new year…

He’s adorable. Sorry about your dog that had to be out down. Hopefully he’s resting well now ~

Thinking hard on Sony IER z1r’s, and pretty set on a pair of Campfire Cascades and found a RNHP that will def happen.

Z1R’s for the win …Man I love my Andro’s and Vega’s but the Z1’s are on another level…maybe the MEST could also fill your sonic gap?

Not sure how many decades they have been selling them this way but it’s been a while.

sorry to hear about your loss. That new family member looks super cute and i wish you both a long and happy life

I feel like this confused me more than anything. Are they NOS or are they new production using the original methods? And werent tubes developed past 1938.

I am assuming at the very least they are very specialised great sounding tubes that if they were used in music and movie production they would be the correct fit to reproduce those sounds too.

They look very fancy, im even tempted to convince you to let me have the wood box they come in.

From the site, they appear to be new production:

Today, the 300B is re-entering production at the Rossville Works. Our new manufacturing home was custom-built to master the dozens of individual demands of tube making, from sealing the iconic glass bulb to the complex metallurgic processes within. We’ve modernized the production line here and there to establish forward momentum at a company with 150 years of history. Western Electric believes twenty-first century listeners deserve twenty-first century manufacturing standards.

According to Wikipedia, this seems to be the case:
As of 2013, the stylized Western Electric brand name survives as the trademark of the Western Electric Export Corporation, a privately owned high-end audio company in Rossville, Georgia.

Interesting.

Actually, the history page on Western Electric’s website give a better overview. Telecom WE is dead, but the name survived for the manufacture of tube in 1996->present because some entrepreneur throughout the years acquired rights for production and intellectual rights from former owner AT&T.

Thieaudio Phantom.

I like the sound.

Got on the hype train when everyone already got off I believe. Got them used at a great price.

New Old Stock is anything that is old stock but still new. Mine are new but we’re purchased a while ago by someone else who waited so many years for them he finally sold his amp and went with a different style before he finally got the tubes in hand. I was fortunate to be at the right place at the right time.

The company has continued to produce the tubes so there are New tubes coming out too, they are simply hard to get a hold of and folks wait years on the waiting list.

There are plenty of good 300B out there, finding them and affording them are the hard part. Same goes with many of the tubes folks favor. Very few folks are able to produce tubes the audiophile community seems to agree on being worthwhile.

Ok that clears up my questions. Theyre producing new but due to whatever theyre very limited. Yours are nos not because they were built in the 50s and found in a warehouse but because they were built “recently ish” but sitting by someone who couldnt use them. Well i feel bad for him but am very happy for you.

When i did guitar stuff the tubes there were the same situation. Its not as critical listening from an overdriven amp but i found solid production tubes and never teased myself with the good nos or vintage stuff, mostly because i didnt even play well! Well i do have some nice JANs sitting around that im going to pop into the bh Crack but thats about it.

And if you ever get sick of that wood box…

Bought a Canon EOS 850d dSLR camera on a black friday offer (im a bit old school and prefer an optical view finder compared to the mirrorless alternatives), and it arrived just before this weekend. Also, during the week i got a yaxi pad order in the mail, and some “headband” for a Koss KSC75 mod… And the new AC/DC album arrived too, so quite a few packages the last week

Is that the Parts Express headband? I’ve had mine for a couple of months and it’s definitely better than the clips, especially with the Yaxi pads, but I’m trying to come up with something more comfortable, the steel band is just so thin.

Yeah, its the Parts Express head band :+1:

Its very thin, but i don’t really feel it on my head (mind you, just used it for 20min or so)

Yeah it’s super lightweight, I just find myself adjusting it a lot. I’m not sure whether it’s better to drill out a headband from my old sennheisers which I don’t like anyway or 3d print something to hold the plastic bits. I can melt some little nubs on for height adjust.

It is finally here guys and all I can say is thank you for all of the suggestions and support of me doing this easy mod, and I must say this is a quality of life improvement right there. Have I finally reached the endgame point of these headphones right here?
