With suede pads on, the original nighthawks sound a little darker with a little more bass compared to the carbons with the suede pads.

A3 and Modius bought from @MrAyrit, really digging the higher resolution. I should also add he included all the original packaging which I wasn’t expecting, nice touch.
Very stocked to finally try my T60RP’s which I’ll be soon sending to Ryan at modhouse.

tbh im tempted by the earmen sparrow now because it seems from all reports its just as good if not better than the dragonfly red (which is the same cost, but has less file format support). i need a dongle dac so I can just leave something in my laptop forever and have no issues so the sparrow is interesting, it mostly depends on if we have good comparisons between the red and probably also between the cobalt since I got a lot of money recently and so the cobalt could be in my reach (and neither of the headphones i am wanting to get have balanced output)

So you may be curious, how are the Pro4AAs? Are they as bad as Zeos makes them out to be?

Mmm, yes and no. Everything he says about comfort I agree with. I have had it on for 2 hours now with a short break inbetween, and my ears are dying. No, they’re already dead, and that’s why I can still wear them. Have to say they isolate much better than my M40x. Can’t hear my blue switches at all with music playing. The pads, are in fact not for cushioning ears but only for sealing. This is basically a pad-less on-ear with a seal.

Sound, I think he exaggerated quite a bit. 12o’clock low gain in my FiiO K5. In comparison, I would listen to my M40x at 10. Bass is there. Not emphasized, but not really recessed either. They can lay don the slam if the recording asks for it. Pretty good extension, too. IMO soundstage is larger than stock M40x. Detail retrieval and resolution are actually pretty decent.

The main issue is treble and the unatural timbre it causes. Stuff like violins, trumpets, vocals, etc sound really honky because of a large peak at 3khz and mmmmaaaaaaassssiiive peak at 8khz. Other than that, I like how it sounds. It’s honky, but everything else feels quite flat and musical. But really honky.

So far I like how they sound. Better in almost every aspect compared to my M40x imo. But beheebus, they hurt to wear. My neck hurts too now. Need a break lol.

Edit: I quickly EQ’ed out most of the honk on Foobar. So much better. Only if you could “EQ” comfort like that as well. Also included a quick sketch of how I hear the FR. I’m generally a bass-light/flat listener, so interpret this as you wish.

After the big heartbreak of my dog having to be put to sleep(cancer), I am finally getting a new puppy and she will be here next week. Guess no more loud music for this guy I will wear my headphones more.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Some dogs do like loud music. I previously had a dog who would sit in front of the sub every time I played anything.

Ive been curious about those old Loss for a long time. Thanks for sharing.

Do you have more info one these. I know some tubes are rare but rarely do you see them packed in a wooden box that is just as nice.

Bought some superglue hoping to fix a tragedy…

Yikes! Not good to see when you have a set inbound (as I do).

 Hope you can fix it :+1:

It’s not as seamless as before, and I’m not 100% on how to go about fixing that… But it’s been a bit more then an hour, and I figured I’d give it a try… And I’m very sad to say it seems like there is a channel imbalance that seems to have shifted things to the right (the side that didn’t need repair)

In all honesty, I’m not the biggest fan of the build quality of Chi-Fi products.

After the right driver on the Shuoer Tape was greased after a week, the L3 was already delivered with a loose driver.

QC is really not their strength and when the cover plate of the housing says goodbye, that also speaks for it.

Due to the changes in the “sound body” that the case represents due to the adhesive and the associated symmetry, I think you will have to dispose of these parts.

Unfortunately!
