First impressions are that I like them. They sound pretty big for a closed back, definitely bring the bass when it is called for, the treble is just borderline too hot for me sometimes, mids and vocals (especially female) at first sounded a little flat perhaps recessed. These could all just be reflective of the chambers and pads used, and I may need to experiment with pads. I’ll need to give them more time before being able to really say.

I think I’m good for a while  (upgraded from the LS). Arrived early this morning (2 days early), but have not had time yet today to fire it up. Big thanks to @FBizzle for reaching out and offering to sell me this beauty, what a mensch!

p.s. I have about 1/2" from the top of the tubes to the bottom of the glass stand, so yell at me if that is too close.

Ordered Klipsch R41Ms… and received 41PMs! :flushed:

First impression after a few days is, these don’t do enough bass. They compensated for the tiny 3-inch-ish woofer by boosting the 200hz region, so it just sounds… muddy.

Worse, there’s their “sub” DSP boost, but it’s way too much bass. So it’s either way too much, or electronic music drum kicks sounding like popcorn.

For now I say: If you don’t have, or want, subwoofers, avoid. I might try to plug the right speaker (passive) into my speaker amp to see if it’s different (right channel is probably just a “R41M”) but… these are too small. At least get R-51Ms or R-51PMs.

I also got this recently. Smooth sound. “Class-A-ish”, dare I say? Or, at least, smoother sounding than my JDS Atom amp (the Atom can be “painfully accurate” on some headphones with a bit too much treble).

Interesting setup for sure.

Red pads and balanced mod on the Beyers? They’re almost not recognizable as 880s. Do tell!

4pin mini xlr cable mod, not sure what the perforated red pads are, but they are comfy. Cable mod works great since my xi audio broadway is only balanced out. And then the headphones themselves are the black special edition dt880 600 ohms. On the broadway and qutest, its the best I’ve heard them, especially with the low end. This setup up makes them a lot more fun and warm. Really awesome.

My Utopias came in a couple days ago. Gave me that immediate wow factor of a listening experience. Now I’m just sitting around listening to Pet Sounds/Beatles/Phil Spector productions on tidal, taking it all in.

What’s that? Some kind of bag where I can put my DAP inside? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

AliExpress cables and the 20€ Monoprice retro. Way better than I thought they would be for this price. Quite cool. But the pads are horrible…

Be careful with those headphones. They’re not like higher quality headphones that can be enjoyed safely at moderate volume. I don’t know if its the amount of bass or a quality thing, but turn these up too much and they can trigger tinnitus. Of course that will vary person to person.
