Hifiman Edition X V2 arrived today. So far I am very pleased. These things have excellent mids. Comfort is fantastic.

Yeah, I watched the GL2000 video this morning half asleep and I was like… I just sold a bunch of shit on eBay and I have the money AND if I like them, I’ll probably just return my HiFiman HE5XX since I just got them yesterday. The IEMs are sort of just for schiits and giggles, I’m wanting to see what an IEM can do but I dunno if I’ll like anything enough to keep it.
A good comparison is like, I know I can buy a really tasty craft beer (headphones) for like $6 dollars but if I spent the equivalent on wine (IEMs) it would just be meh, and my palate (ears) can’t even taste (hear) the difference anyway.
Expensive and amazing? Cool. Cheap and enough? Life.

Thas kinda where I am at with IEMs as well. Im not sure if its because I havent experience as high of a tier with them as I have headphones, but im kinda luke warm to them. I am interested in how well they block out sound over a closed back though. My 3 temptations right now are OH10s,Teas, and MESTs (cause why not be tempted by them?)

There are not too many headphones like the ones made by America’s own Abyss.
In terms of build, design and pure natural sound/musicality, there is very little competition in this tier. One always wonders though, should they buy a V2? Should they get a used V1? Should they put the big bucks in and get the Phi?

Just make sure to not watch youtube videos all day long, like i do with my LG Oled for about 3-4 years no. Its completely burned in and the whole screen is basicially ruined. Can throw it in the trashcan when i get a new one in sometime… Probably they have better control over this in the newer models, at least i hope so…once oled, its hard not to get an oled again i guess…
