Lets go lol, how’s it been so far?
I love that Yeti made a high end, high performance tall boy coozy.
I’m drinking my coffee out of a Yeti as I type this.
I really like it. I think it took me about half an hour to adjust (I am missing the power cord so am using the one from G111 atm) so I could only compare it with the RNHP, both hooked to BF2. At first it felt a little bit dull/dry for vocals compared to RNHP, but as soon as I switch to more instrument heavy music like jazz and classical I think its strength in bass extension, width of stage and the resolution show how impressive this little thing is. Off memories I think it’s closer to G111 than RNHP, being the more neutral version of the former. Its stage is wider than RNHP but a bit more precise than G111, possibly has slightly better resolution than RNHP, bass is between RNHP and G111. But RNHP still has a bit more depth and better separation/layers of sound and possibly more appealing timbre (is it more realistic/natural? I am not sure, but more pleasing to my ears), so I’d say the Monotor is generally on par with RNHP and G111, with strength and weakness to each of their own.
A few annoying thing:
- Noise floor more noticeable than RNHP
- The tiny volume pot
- Takes XLR and TRS input, no RCA (I am not a pro)
- Prone to electrical interference – cannot place my phone within 20cm of it
Wow, that’s pretty much exactly my thoughts on it as well (in the little labs thread) lol, glad you are enjoying it
Interesting, I didn’t get that on my unit at all, neither the interference
You can use ts to rca cables if needed
That was what prompted me to purchase it lol. I think it’s a good recommendation, at least with first impression I like the three studio amps equally as they excel at different things. Any DAC pairings recommendations? I know you mentioned Allo DAC but that seems to be a step down from what I have atm. I am also considering using the Monotor as a transportable setup so I don’t mind trading absolute SQ for a bit of portability for the DAC. I still have an ENOG Pro which I originally planned to use as a transportable DAC, is it generally on par with Allo?
I actually wanted to ask what you meant by it being more forward as I kinda got a mixed impression here: RNHP has a more intimate stage generally but instruments seem to be placed a bit further, whereas the Monotor seems to have a larger stage but then instruments are placed closer (and also a bit flatter)
Is it possible that the unit I received is not 100% functional?
could be due to the power cable or other electrical quirks, try moving it to a different room and see how that goes. Let’s take this over to the other thread for now and we can talk there
Golden ears unite
Especially when directly compared to the chonker that is the HP-3 lol
I spy a Mojo. Solid IEM source. Enjoy your exploration!
Look what showed up today! Jotenheim 2, welcome to my little amplifier family.
And thanks to @Resolution for the smooth purchase and fast shipping!
I’ve bought from so many people on this forum who have gone out of their way to make it a smooth transaction and at a great price. There’s a lot of audiophile generosity around here!
Yeah, everyone I have dealt with has been great. Easily my favorite place to hangout. Fun discussions and nice place to buy and sell gear.
Well… This lovely young actress arrived today
I also picked up 3 versions of Lilium from the Elfen Lied OST: Saint and OP in Flac and I could only find the extended version in mp3. That along with sugao by midori tsukimiya in Flac.
Ah yes! a fellow Moondrop Starfield user, you sir have my like for today.
Final Audio Type E ear tips they arrived today but a bit of a problem, instead of getting 2 pairs, I got 2 pieces lol. Messaged the seller about the issue and I hope they can fix it asap.
Also don’t pay attention to the Xelastec package, for those tips came in there.
Very nice. Gotta get some Yaxi Pads.
