Yesterday I ordered the Abyss 1266 Phi TC. Very excited for these and now I’ve been looking into some amps that could drive them better but aren’t too expensive (under 1k ish) while I save for a speaker amp or something more exciting like a high power tube amp.
I am currently using the white inserts, you only get one kind unlike the ethers, and I am currently loving them. I can’t tell if I just love the bass or just love the tuning, but I don’t feel like I have sacrificed anything coming from the Ether 1.1s to the Aeon 2 Noire. In fact, the detail better compared to the ethers as well as the texture in the bass/sub-bass. Overall, there’re wider in Soundstage and have about the same instrument separation compared to the Ethers. These are well worth the money in my opinion, and I am happy to say I don’t feel the need to upgrade to anything else. Plus, they can be driven very well with my DX300 on high gain and they look sexy as hell. Really making me question if I even need to upgrade to the Diana V2s down the line. I realize they are better, but $2000.00 more dollars better? I’m not sure.
Edit: Ok, I might still get the Diana V2s, but no time soon.
Got a new carry case for my dap and regularly used IEMs today, been looking at this one for a while but decided I needed it after dropping one monitor of the Grace into some Pepsi… Probably will get a case for the SR25 too since it is a bit sharp to hold
Quantity is a lot higher on the X6. The Chaconne has a pretty typical bud bass, but it does extend a bit lower than usual, just not as deep and sub-bass rumbling like the X6. If you dont mind the lower bass quantity, then the Chaconne is great. otherwise you might still prefer the X6 (I still want a true upgrade to it).
ok good to know, ya man im really happy with it, bass music is good for what this is, tuning reminds me a little of the ksc 75’s, i like how these feel like an open back, will definitley have to give the Chaconne a try, like an ultra airy sound
