What did you buy today? (Part 2)

Yeah here are my 2 vape units, I also love the geek vape zeus tanks - cannot go back to tanks that have bottom airflow, its just so much nicer never having any leakage if the coils get oversaturated. No leaking, fills from the top while coil is replaced from the bottom, lots of flavor and convenient and easy to swap out coils.

Bifrost 2 is in to complete the chonk stack. This should serve me well for a couple years :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Valentines Day sale at Musictek pushed me over the edge and I bought the Unique Melody Mest MKII. Big step-up from my beloved Fearless S8Fs; hoping these will be my endgame for a few years. Maybe upgrade my Hiby R6Pro next. Mest should ship todayā€¦ Really excited!

Canā€™t speak to the S8F specifically as I have never heard it, but as someone who owns the S8Z and MEST mk II I would say that you just got a upgrade across the board, significantly so in some areas! I hope that you love them, and if you have any issues, Musicteck is among the best in the biz when it comes to customer service!

Iā€™ll be interested to hear how you compare and contrast the BF2 with the Ares II.

Remind me what youā€™re using for transport? I think I saw a portable CD player in one of your setup pics a little while back. Iā€™m using optical out from an NAD player in one setup (probably my favorite CD player to date) and optical out from an Olasonic transport in another setup (terrible display and controls, but it plays fine). My Onkyo is on long-term loan to my brother.

OK, try not to laugh too hard! I am currently using a Sony Disc Walkman as a ā€œtransportā€!!

I would love to have an actual digital CD transport, but right now I canā€™t afford one and the foot print of the ones I like are standard rack sized units, not small footprint to match my desktop environment. So I am making due with this one! But it is working well, and I just run it into the RCA input on the SA-1.

One day I will have a digital CD transport. I just havenā€™t found ā€œthe oneā€ yet. Or ā€œThe Fundsā€ to buy it. But Iā€™ll get there.

No shame in that, my transport (that I bought recently) is a PS1, Iā€™m gonna do some mods to it to use an external dac

Very cool. The transport in the Living Room is an actual Denon multi-disc CD transport, so I took the digital out (coax), fed a SU-8 DAC, and then connected that to my Home theater amp. Holy smokes, CDs never sounded so good in living room!

Definitely makes a big difference when you can feed your DAC with a true digital transport.

The only thing I laughed at is your phraseology: ā€œThe Funds.ā€

The Sony looks good. Let us know when youā€™re ready to pursue somthing else. I totally feel your pain with the footprint issue. CD players shouldnā€™t have to be full size rack-mount deals. I bought the Olasonic for its super compact size, but Iā€™m not sure itā€™s available new anymore. Here it is in a previous setup, on top of an SMSL stack for scale (still love my SU-8 too):

Yeah itā€™s gonna take some work doing the mod to something like optical out. The hard part is gonna be converting to usb since my dap only takes usb input or Bluetooth

That Olasonic is the catā€™s pajamas. Well done, Sir. It would be a good day indeed if I could find something like that. Nice to see the S-8 stack also. I was happy that I could get my SU-8 back in action.

I hear that. This could be a good project for you. Let us know how things turn out!

My apologies, everyone, for an inadvertent thread-jack! Future posts regarding CD players will be posted to the proper thread. @Kron Best of luck with the project.

Got my first RTA today and Iā€™m really happy with it. Itā€™s the Vapefly Siegfried Mesh RTA.

I was really surprised that I get bigger clouds and better flavour at only half the wattage compared to my Zeus Sub Ohm Tank.

Hello,
Imhave buy the same from 3 week ago,.
I like him :+1:

I just picked up a Noble Fokus and I may have found my go to TWS. Sure they lack the most basic of features like ANC & ambient mode but the sound makes up for it. Itā€™s a fun W shaped tuning if anyone was curious. A word of warning though the lows are sub bass oriented and has a hint of bloat. Everything is quite clean. The EQ app also works pretty well.
