What did you buy today? (Part 2)

Might as well go with the 7 then. I’ve been rocking with the 3K for a while now. I’ve been itching for an upgrade and when the 7 was announced I was pretty hyped. Thanks, man

I’ve needed a computer for home use / music storage and organizing. Light graphical work like illustration and simple video editing. Got a Thinkpad T495 for $225 shipped! Ryzen Pro 5. 8gb that I’ll add 8GB to at some point to get the most out of the iGPU. Curious which display lane it has when it comes, just knew it was a good price regardless of display.

great recommendation. $26 USD for two of those is a deal and they can be the basis of a very nice DIY shelf if you want to make a nice frame.

MOTU M4 at the bottom if you need a size reference

Question about the SMSL SU-9n

  • do you find yourself using the various sound color options on it much?
I am looking at balanced DAC’s and I am comparing directly the SMSL SU-9n with the Geshelli JNOG2. I don’t really care about the wireless options or any other differences, the only thing that I am considering are the options to adjust the sound on the SMSL SU-9n vs the standard signal output from the JNOG2. So, is the sound color worth the cost?

Yes there is volume adjustment and a remote though i havent had a chance to test out the sound color all that much (right now im testing out my new Denon 7200) but just stright out of the box im very happy. It gave me that boost in power i wanted and is clean would have liked

Got these as my first planars. Been using closed back gaming headsets (Cloud II and G Pro) and IEMS (TRN ST1, Moondrop SSP and Elven Maiden) all this time. Really a huge difference in imaging and sound stage. Listening to my playlists is like listening to a whole new list of songs.

Took forever it seems but these were finally delivered, but without a cable. Guess what Amazon doesn’t carry? You guessed it. They sell Beyerdynamic DT150 headphones but no cables.

I’ve ordered a DT150 coiled cable from Reverb. This adds another $50+ to the cost. Hope these sound good. Simon Phillips uses DT150 headphones, or an earlier variant.

Also keep in mind that these scale with better amplification - there is a limit of course but when they get power they get better

Scored a brand new Topping G5 for USD 267 discounted by the store owner.

Sound so clean it wiped some thump and impact off my bass shelf  I noticed that cleanliness and smoothness when I went back to my Quadelix 5K.

Slightly thicker and heavier than my 6.1” Android phone.

I do have the iFi Zen Air Can and an audio interface (Motu M2) both of them power the HE400Se fine. The Motu at 40% is already too loud for my tastes.

Oracle mk1’s at a discounted price with a THIEAUDIO EST MK II cable. Also some Spinfit W1’s and CP145’s. Will see what fits better.

The 2nd Singxer SA1 just arrived. Dual monoing them now with my 600ohm DT880’s.

What I’m not certain about is if I’m getting the full power of each amp. I’m using the Zen Blue V2 balanced out, then female XLR to dual male RCA splitters plugged into both RCA inputs of each amp. Then using male 1/4" TS headphone out of each amp into a female TRS, & then the headphone cable plugs into that. Amps are both on high gain & volume is pegged. It’s plenty loud & sounds great. Anazon Music is also at max volume. I just expected there to be more power than I would need volume wise. Soundstage is great. Getting a solid center image where it is supposed to be. Dynamics are strong. 600ohm 880s can do bass no doubt. I’ll be doing the same set up with my Xduoo TA26s at a later date. I really don’t have the proper space ready to be doing this.

Sir, you came up with a way to bypass the SA1 SE out limitations, bravo!
