What did you buy today? (Part 2)

I’ll definitely put some thoughts down. I’ll be spending a solid day with them on Monday but right now they are probably the most fun and engaging planar I’ve ever heard.

Keep getting told I need to get my PC out of my chain, so that’s what I’m doing.

Just need to find a good LPS to go with it.

For anyone who owns the old school Hifiman headphones with the SMC connectors, my package with these two SMC to 3.5mm female adapters showed up at my hotel today after being forwarded from SoCal (gotta thank the shop that sells these for VERY quick shipping that I didn’t pay extra for :+1:). I immediately threw them on my OG HE400s and they’re perfect. They’re built well, are sonically transparent, and they’re a good length so they don’t bother me at all when using them in conjunction with one of my dual 3.5mm cables. I’m definitely ordering more for the rest of my SMC connector Hifiman sets.

I also have a pair that has male 2.5mm where the SMC connectors are on these so I can make the older 2.5mm Hifiman and other headphones work with my arsenal of dual 3.5mm cables. I’m looking forward to those working out just as well. Basically since some people showed interest in the adapters I just wanted to post a little update and I’ll put a link below to the SMC adpaters. This shop also does custom work (the 2.5mm adapters I ordered were a custom order though they now have them posted as an option in their AE shop as well. This store also has a bunch of harder to find headphone cables, they offer interconnects, and, as I said, will do custom stuff. The store name is “GAGACOCC Store” on AE and they sell on Amazon too, but have a much smaller item list on Amazon.

Got mine today. Listening while at work. Case is nice, though a bit chonky. Cable is nice, though I kinda wish it was MMCX (I’ve personally had a better experience with MMCX then I have with 2-pin, but we’ll see how it goes)

Technically got them yesterday, but there you go:

Softears Twilight
It’s still early and I’m feeling them out, but they are great at a minimum and I would wager that if your preferences & library work well with a warm, fairly neutral IEM then these could be your endgame single DD. I scooped them to have as a complement to the Storm and they are already filling that role admirably.

It’s a pretty little thing, but is it any good? Stay tuned to find out

I’m still very jealous of your twilights! How’s the bass presence?

Actually really, really good. Very clean with a natural texture and solid tactile feel.

Had to hear what all this Sennheiser commotion is about. Got a good open box deal for €220.
OK I get it these are the epitome of neutral. I like them a lot as universal headphone. Great for mixed use cases like homeoffice, video calls, youtube, gaming etc.

Some sub bass boost is needed for pure music enjoyment.

After slowing building up with different iems and portable amps I decided to finally splurge on a desk setup after moving to actually have space for them. So here we are, Aune X8 XVIII and Topping A90 Discrete! And to go with them kinera nanna’s, just the 2.0, not the zeos versions. And man even though both my BTR 7 and XD05 Basic had been serving me well, this is another level, especially feel it on the nanna’s which I feel the BTR 7 honestly struggles a bit with.

Coming in a while is what I hope will be my end game for the time being, Aeolus!

A90D is so versatile, have you op amp swapped the XD05? personally found big improvements there, thinking about getting a X8 if they go on sale

Oh shit! Another one joins the Twilight club! Why didn’t you tell me, bro? You know the Twilights are my jam. Seriously great pair of IEMs. Congratulations on the new shinies! :tada::sunglasses:

First off, welcome to HFG! Judging by your first post, you’re gonna fit in just fine around here.

The desk rig looks great! Any chance you’re thinkin’ about adding some over ears to your lineup and then maybe some earbuds? Or are you strictly an IEM guy? Either way, congratulations on the new stack! :+1::tada::sunglasses:

Congrats on the good combo. Nanna 2.0 is the right choice in my opinion. The Zeos version suffers from “modern tuning”. :sunglasses: :ok_hand:

Haven’t gone into swapping op amps yet, simply been too busy. I have looked into it, especially now that I have the X8. But with my new job I’ll have more time, so may jump into that as well

Thanks for the welcome!

Current run down of things I got is:

Headphones:
Hifiman Sundara 2020

Iems:
7hz Timeless
Shure SE215
Fiio FH7
Letshuoer z12
Ikko OH10
Kinera Nanna 2.0

Dacs/Amps:
Aune X8
Topping A90D
Xduoo Xd-05 basic
Fiio BTR7

Speakers:
Audioengine A2+

Upcoming are the Aeolus

Planning to pickup some closed backs for working at the office, and looking at some new speakers since I have an actual living room now, used to live in a tiny studio with paper thin walls. No plans for more iems for the time being, going to play around with the ones I have and then if I suddenly have an urge may jump on some others.
