Just browsing the internet & this pops up in my feed, not specifically looking for it:
I need those to survive I think. Uhg!
I don’t need to be spending that kind of money right now though.
The tweeter & woofer cone are magnesium.

While I am still waiting for the Empyrean from my last post I bought even more stuff I wanted to try. Was working in the UK for 2 weeks so things were waiting for me in the DHL parcel station.
The Plutus Beast sounded interesting with its driver combination.
Pula PA02 was a late night impulsive buy after reading ToneDeafMonk raving about it, lol.
BQEYZ is already here for a while but didn’t get to it yet.
Guess now I will compare the Plutus Beast against the PA02. Winner goes against the Wind. Final battle against the IE600 then.
Wanted to try the new xMems driver so bought the Creative Ace 2. Winner of the IEM battle will compete with Ace 2. As I don’t use IEMs that often maybe the Ace 2 will be “good enough” compared to the wired IEMs and I will only keep them.
When I first heard about the new Drop Axel Grell headphone with the crazy Angled driver I was curios about how it would affect the staging. Aune came up with its own idea of this so I had try.
HD490 pro are to see if I like them more than the Hd650 (which I never liked) and if they are more comfortable than the Hd560s.
Now I only need time for all these comparisons…
First time using ebay for these. Never trusted ebay so never used it. This was my first. They screwed it up & so I canceled the order. They over charged me 70 quid. So Im done with ebay.
Unfortunately ebay is the only place to find these speakers that I know of. So typical.
I’m not a fan of Fleabay either. Them and PayPal both. Zero trust!
How? To be curious.
All of my Ebay purchases have been what the price tag indicates (even with currency changes).
Of course the shipping might be added but that depends and is still being informed before confirming the buy.
But the price has not changes even if buying from US, GB or EU sellers.
I’m not sure why. All I know is those speakers were supposed to be 549.99 GBP plus tax & shipping which was another 80 GBP I think.
On my end I was charged 836.36 USD. That alone seemed off to me. The next day I received an email from ebay indicating that the overall price was going to be 900 & something USD. Then the seller messaged me & said that ebay had overcharged the fees by about 70 GBP & asked if I would cancel the order & rebuy the speakers at the 549.99 GBP to fix the issue. I decided to just cancel the order & not bother trying again, figuring Im getting scammed as I expected I would on ebay.
Yeah, that sounds weird. Walking away was probably the wisest move IMO.
Ebay’s buyer protection is great, I got scammed on a focal headphone (fake tracking number) Ebay refunded me within a day of me emailing them
Anyhoo, finally got my $836.36 back as of today.
Also got paid yesterday on a side job I do to keep busy, so; spent some money on some Hart Audio Custom Cables that I can use with my Koss KPH40i headphones. Those I ordered a couple of weeks ago. Then today I ordered a stereo balanced 2.5 female to dual Sennheiser 2 pin split & a stereo balanced 2.5 female to dual 3.5 trs split so that I can use the same Hart Audio balanced main cable for my KPH40i with termination to 4.4 pentacon on everything I’ll use. Sennheiser, Focal, Hifiman ect.
I also ordered a new Sennheiser HD660S today. I have the HD599SE & I really like how those sound now. I’ll hault my Beyerdynamic collection for now.
I also ordered Triangle Borea BR02 late yesterday afternoon & some adjustable stands so I can put them down by my desk or up by my TV. I ordered a bunch of other stuff to get my DACs, preamps & power amps all up & running with a central controller that I’ve had for a long time, an SPL MTC which has several line level inputs & outputs.
I’m spending way too much money on hifi ancillary gear for very expensive items I don’t even have yet. Today I ordered a custom speaker/headphone cable from Hart Audio which I will eventually use to power Tungsten headphones I don’t yet own.
I also ordered my girlfriend a pair of her own 600ohm DT880 Premium headphones. I also got her her own KPH40i a few weeks ago. We will have mutual listening sessions once I get everything set up. I’ve 2 TA26, 2 SA1 & 2 A70 Pro already.
That is one cool as $%# thing you have done to share the hobby with a loved one. I’m sure you enjoy playing with all those amp options. If you don’t mind me asking what DAC are you using?
I’ve got a Topping E50, Geshelli J2/ESS 9038, & Geshelli J2/AKM 4493. Those will do for now, but I want to eventually get the Geshelli Dayzee with the AKM 4499 which also has digital outputs.
I got some new neon signs for my eBay listings, arrived from Aliexpress today. They just work off phone chargers (not neon gas, like an LED).
You go, dude! I’m kinda curious about the A70 Pro. Looking forward to reading your impressions of that piece.
Nice! I like 'em!
The A70 Pro on high gain can make 600ohm DT880/990 work to full potential. It is a very clear & neutral sound signature, so what goes in is what comes out. However thus far I’ve only been listening to Amazon Music via my Galaxy S23 streaming Bluetooth in LDAC to my iFi Zen Blue V2 balanced into the A70 Pro. I have zero complaints with the sound. I’m not locked in on any 1 particular sound signature as long as there isn’t any audible distortion.
