Happy listening!
FatFreqxHBB added to the IEM collection.
Was demo-ing earphones and headphones in e-earphone in Osaka. Was looking for a closed back set good for vocals and mid range and trialing everything in the store.
After I left for Tokyo this, T3-03 and Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro lived rent free on my head. I really like T3-03 which I think is worth more than its price but decided to go for T3-01 as I like the Maple Wood build bought it in Akihabara.
I find it balanced and has the most “correct” timbre compared to other sets I tried with sub-bass roll off but not much. Note weight is good with a good presence region but not harsh as I am quite treble sensitive. I love it for instrumentals, vocal and acoustic sessions. This is my first closed back headphones and owning X2HR (finding it harsh).
Went on another e-earphone session adventure and on a Sony shopping spree today.
I like how they all sounded, keen to have a long listening session back home.
MDR-EX800ST sounded like the Penon Fan 2 on my first try with much better note texture and better with string instruments, less warm but mids feels neutral/pushed 1 step back vs Fan 2. Mid-air treble definitely feel like the same as Fan 2. Female vocals has less weight and sounds less husky compared to Fan 2.
PEQ that baby and you have endgame (and maybe remove the foam and metal disc inside the nozzle).
Im only missing the MV1 from that pic.
I saw that the MV1 was e-earphone Osaka branch’s top 2 pick/most buy if I understood their board correctly (while HD800s being 3rd, I forgot the top 1).
I got two new arrivals today for my current collection. First is the Tanchjim Bunny, I thank @ToneDeafMonk for giving me insights about this from an another thread and so far this has been an impressive set for the price for me to listen with. Overall smooth and man these are really impressive for the price of 20USD. Also finally, another beater set and an IEM that I can sleep with side ways lol.
Also this one, the Truthear Hexa. Sure some of you will find this boring in terms of its tuning, but man as for me, who prefers more neutral tuning or balanced? I love it and they were not wrong when the Hexas were punching above its given price during its time, and even today it’s still good. I recently sold my Heydays for I don’t use those as often anymore, and getting these for a cheaper price is just the right replacement for it in my opinion.
Didn’t buy-buy, but I pre-ordered the cutesy little Snowsky Retro Nano for $56, as my BTR3 is showing its battery age and I’m so glad the industry is getting its act together and finally introducing BT devices with replaceable batteries. Plus I’ve wanted this cassette player design ever since I saw the KA15 but that didn’t fit any of my plans for dongle upgrades.
On any other day I wouldn’t touch a CS43131 device, but with the 10-band PEQ its wiggly response can be fixed I think, its power numbers and THD are satisfactory, plus its output impedance, noise floor and crosstalk in BAL mode are outright exceptional and desktop-grade.
Now to look for spare 10440 lithium batteries, as the autonomy on this sucker isn’t quite ideal.
Love the design!
Picked up a magia cable for the HD800s.
I have bought a new phone for myself and I must say this phone has been one hell of an experience for it is definitely better than the previous phone that I have when it comes to its IP rating being higher and as well as its chipset, for the MediaTek 8400 Ultra is no damn joke on this. There are downsides though, and that downside of this phone would be damn bloatware and my god it has a lot of bloatware. You know what I did? I immediately debloated this a lot and yeah it is so much better now.
So to those who are getting a Xiaomi/Poco phone, always debloat it first, it saves you the headache in the long run.
Googling it, never heard of it!
Me neither, I was just looking for an affordable Android device. I figured that way if I didn’t like it as a DAP, I could reuse it for some other task. If I wanted to use my phone for the audio at night, I had to turn off do not disturb, which was not ideal. By using a different device, I could limit the notifications, and only use it for audio, plus it does streaming music well. My only beef is the battery life is bad, and struggles to get though the night.
I have been having tinnitus lately, and the standard recommendation is adding white noise into the room. I bought a cheap set of pillow speakers, and that DAP. I don’t know if the white noise helps, but the DAP seems fine.
I find white noise a bit harsh but brown is just right. Lots of flavors of noise to combat tinnitus.
You didn’t have a scale banana in house?
