What did you buy today? (Part 2)

Congrats man thats a great piece of kit!

when i had limiting gear i also owned the 800s along with the 2000x, what i’m about to say may not be accurate because the HD800’s are known to scale with better gear but when i had both the 800s and these they practically sounded the same tonally, tamber wise as well.

i have owned the 2000x for years and years, i only recently sold it, it’s a great piece of gear and i don’t think i’ve heard clarity on this level ever since, except for with the 800s’s, i don’t mean detail retrieval i mean clarity but both are detailed but mainly the image clarity is just insane on both of these.

the biggest differentiator between the two being soundstage and it being the soundstage that sounded the most different really caught me off guard because i just thought they would be radically different.

bucket of salt here since i used both of these with the ADI-2 amp dac combo which is known to be limited by it’s amp portion so i have my doubts it came around to my 800s in an appropriate way so don’t take my word for gold but i’d be curiuos to know if anyone has had a similar experience with these

i always thought that Long After You Are Gone by Chris Jones played exceptionally on these, acoustic and live were both great on them.

how do you like em so far?

oh yeah and Nils - Keith Don’t Go (live) are also great on these!
the best experience i’ve had with these songs has been on the 2000x

Get a Burson amp, they pair well visually!

…as you can tell, I’d considered it for mine. But Burson says their power section is designed so you don’t need an expensive LPS.

I’d have bought it to try anyway but it’s 24V so no something I would have been able to use with anything else easily.

When I saw this, I thought: “wait, did I order a LampizatOr or something?”

Nope, just this:

Now I have two things that are taller than expected:

The Arya would have been delivered yesterday, but apparently I wasn’t at home (news to me!)

Curious to find out how well they pair (once the V281 warms up…)

Some my know that I ordered the Topping A90 a week ago from Apos. It’s supposed to arrive today here in Central Florida, however DHL tracking says that it just left Hong Kong SAR, China about 3 hours ago…

Hmm…

My experience has always been that DHL tracking underpromises and overdelivers, but YMMV…

I hope, but that’s usually not my kind of luck. LOL

Not here in Belgium. I have a package that was ‘delivered’ on monday… And yet it’s still not here and if you call them they say it’s still in Poland xD

HPA V281 :v:

NICE!

Sorry for the long post but it’s exciting to talk from AT fan to AT fan. As always this impressions are very initial (tested all night).

Thanks, not even a day old now but they struck love at first listen, they delivered my expectations and more.

I believe we may be on the same page here, compared with my beyerdynamic T1.2 (which are supposedly very similar to hd800s), altough very different in soundstaging and bass prowess, they are both getting me what I consider an ideal, sweet, trebley tone for vocals, pianos and string instruments.

That’s the first thing that struck me, INSANE imaging, it’s far from being the most detailed but definitely the clearest I’ve heard, like every instrument is so tangible and visceral, and will change from laidback to very forward following the mix beautifuly.

Again, feel the same when comparing to my beyers. Other than the strong bass delivery and laidback mids of the T1.2, they both deliver a completely lovely, cinematic, immersive experience with great timbre, their clear imaging makes the songs a lot more tangible.

The T1.2 are my favorite cans and I’m glad that I found a mid-forward, intimate version of what they do. Shoutouts to @mochimashu for helping me choose them.

Gonna check them out after work, thanks.
So far the ad2000x gifted me the best “version” I have heard of Matsuko Mawatari’s Nice unbalance, which has my favorite vocal performance of all time, the headphones (figuratively) dissapeared last night :sob:

absolutely, i cannot get enough of long posts, no worries.

really cool you feel the same, i heard before that the T1 is similar to the hd800 so i suppose it seems about right as something comperable to the hd800 just like 2000x to 800, i’ve always felt like the 2000x was an intimate version of the hd800 which may very well be what many would prefer. I highly recommend you try to get your hands on a hd800s since you are enjoying the 2000x intially, may end really liking them.

really good image seperation indeed

i think that the 800s may be more speedy/dynamic/visceral if my memory serves me right, been years since i heard it

Nice, Unbalance was fantastic, thanks!

Well, after the QSO that Willem and Wesley had a couple days ago (Integrated Amp Recommendations thread, Post 17) I got to thinkin about it and decided I should try to clean up the chain a little bit. So I went ahead and ordered the Wyred 4 Sound Recovery module and the Ifi AC power purifier. I Figure that is a nice way to finish off the desktop build.
