What did you buy today? (Part 2)

Nothing exciting, just a touch meta

And it’s sold out that quick. Damn, looks like this is going to be an impressive set from Crin. But for now I am going to wait for reviews.

He released a second batch this morning (another 500) and it sold out in 23 minutes, lmao.

IMO the best MOONDROP IEMs. And I own all of them under $1000 at this point (lol) that are not discontinued.

Kept seeing people also say the variations and Dusk are better hence why I held off on these, but these are really good IMO. I wouldn’t say they are significantly better than other options but they hit that last 5-10% of having basically perfect treble above 3k. Also with 3 or 4 filters under 3k you can tune them to the Population Avg DF target (aka ‘new meta’) very easily, though not necessary IMO. These are my new standard reference for the time being. Best neutral sound to date to my ears.

Also want to add that comfort is extremely good on these despite the large bump on the back side. Slightly better than the Blessing 3 and Dusk IMO
I think due to the fact they move the DD to that large hump, the base body that sits in your ear is actually slightly smaller than those.

EQ Filters:
71hz 2.9db Q0.8
190hz -1.1db Q2
440hz 2db Q1.4
1600hz -2.5db Q1.1

I cannot even get the chance to fucking try it  For I have the budget right now to get it due to my previous transactions on selling some of my old stuff. Welp I am unlucky I guess, better luck next time for me. That one is probably gonna be a collector’s item since it’s a limited run.

Well I feel like I’m the last person on the planet to try these out but wow just a few hours in last night and they are definitely at the top of my list of favorite headphones purchased.

Patience, my man; 999 units means that a fair number of them will end up on the second hand market at SOME point. You may end up able to scoop them for less than retail…

Congrats on the new cans!

I have always been curious about the Susvara, but I never had the opportunity to demo them. Enjoy your future listening sessions.

Thanks it was definitely a blast last night hearing them for the first time. I bought kinda blind but I have a group of friends where 3 of them own a set and assured me it was worth it since I have equipment that will bring out the performance they have.

Finally got this set and this is actually my first time owning a Softears product for most of their IEMs are on the really expensive side, especially when I have first heard of the Softears Twilight back then. Man so far in terms of the first impressions that I am getting from this set? It has been impressive for the accessories is a lot and I really appreciate like that for I have spent a lot of money on this. I am gonna test this one right now and give it a listen.

EDIT: Holy shit! They were not kidding when this is like the updated version of the Hexas and I agree. Also the High impedance mode sure has more clarity and resolution but the musicality when it comes to the mode is just, meh. In the end I have decided with the low impedance mode for it is the perfect balance of analytical and musical listening.

It’s long overdue but I finally did it. The watch case method of having my IEMs in there instead of watches, for I am not really much of a watch guy. It’s good enough I guess, for I just bought this one in a whim so I don’t expect a lot durability or something.

Denafrips Pontus 15th DAC and Hades 12th preamp came in last week. SJY Horizon Closed Carbon came in today!

Been a while since I posted, cause I’ve been pinching pennies for some real endgame headphone gear. All the stars aligned I guess, because so many interesting things came out recently. I always wanted to try a Denafrips DAC, and the new Pontus basically being a last gen Venus 12th for less money is a steal in my book. I also threw in a preamp since I preordered the Orchard Audio Valencia, and I’m glad I did. I actually like the sound of the preamp more than the DAC. :upside_down_face: It adds a big glob of sub-bass richness to the sound that is not present without it in the chain.

Last but not least, the Horizon Closed Carbons are amazing right out of the box. They do not sound closed in the least. The sound is very spacious, smooth and enjoyable. They need quite a bit of juice though.

Gonna kick back and load up my playlist!

That setup looks amazing! I really like your silver V281. Eye candy for sure.

Thanks! The good looks were an accident. I gave up a long time ago trying to make the V281 look good with other gear in a stack. I think this might be one of the only DACs that it can sit on top of without an overhang.

Bought new HDD to replace one of my 16TB in my Synology DS423+ NAS (which atm has 2x16TB+1x18TB HDD). Will probably use the old 16TB as backup drive.

A buddy of mine let me know that a local trusted shop opened pre-orders today.
This is the first game-console that I’ve bought since the Playstation 2.

Great Bluetooth dac/amp. Questyle m18i.
Sounds nice. Neutral clean. No harshness/dryness.

Biggest benefit over the FiiO BTR17 is it seems ti have better range with LE Audio. BTR 17 cuts out when I reach the other corner of my house but this one stays strong regardless. No PEQ like the BTR17 though. Hope Questyle adds that to future products.

I like it a lot though.

Also got the Xenns Tea Pro
Not much listening to them yet, but nice bass and soundstage in them.
Faceplate is also beautiful in person. Photos do not do it justice. There is like layering to it which looks very nice as it refracts the light.
