I have wanted to audition these for a while now and saw these for $199 on Drop and decided to pick them up. Still love my currently daily drivers, the HD 400 Pro’s, and was interested in adding the sound signature these (and the 650’s) have to my collection. I understand they also adapt to sources pretty well and am really looking forward to hearing how they sound on my Schiit Vali 3 hybrid tube amp. Currently impatiently waiting for delivery…
Nice great set!
it’s been over the last few days, but I bought a Miele C3 cat and dog vacuum, parts for a monster gaming PC and Costco have a promo (in Canada anyhow) for the gen 1 MSI Claw 7" for $400 CAD, down from it’s regular $900.
I bought this for I was curious and I have heard a lot of hype about it. I was not expecting much for I only bought this for like $11, but wow color me surprised! They weren’t kidding when this set is 11USD but tuned really really good and this is a Harman set and I rarely like Harman-style sets but this has to be one of the exceptions because for 11USD for me is just insane.
Also some tips, tip rolling again and this one is pretty much a cheaper SpinFit in my opinion and it’s good enough I guess. Yes I even tried it on the ND Audio Planet but I’ve decided to use the S&S tips on it instead to reduce the bass bloat and I don’t know, might be placebo, increase the soundstage.
Just received and testing out iec711 clone for measuring IEMs.
Here is blessing 3 (orange) vs aful explorer (green) as a quick test. Graphs look similar to what I’m seeing from others so good start. Sent an application to start a squig and should hopefully be able to start cataloging and sharing my own measurements soon.
Make sure you get the calibration file from the seller for your exact mic.
yeah, it’s labeled with the same serial number as the mic.
I snagged the Soundcore v20i open ear buds. They are better sounding than I was expecting, but I got them for when I go on walks or runs, and the open thing was very appealing.
I bought 2 sets now of the $10 Tozo E2 after comparing many of their $20-30 sets. They have way too many models but they are all slightly different in ergos so I guess that’s good to have options.
I was duly impressed with their sound. So much advancement for so little $. Tozo active noise control is meh, not worth the power consumption, and these E2 don’t have it at all which is just fine for my use case of casual/workout/sleep.
But, these reproduce sound better than some $50 IEMs I’ve tried. Crazy. or crazy overpriced $50 IEMs.
I won’t spend more than a little on TWS that don’t have replaceable batteries, which I’ve yet to find…at $10/set who cares.
MOONDROP Rays are brilliant!
The IEM itself is the same as the May, but the cable and software is brand new and works extremely well. You can use squig link to auto EQ text files that EQ the rays to have similar tuning to any other IEM and then they can be easily applied to the Rays through the web app. Web app is very nice. Accepts the EQ txt files directly with zero fuss. Works similarly to how it works with the Element IV DAC in that you just load up a website and you can start playing with the PEQ. No sketchy software to install.
Unlike the other Moondrop dongles or cable that come with the Dusk, these support preamp gain and has much better range for its PEQ. 8 peak filters. -18 to +12 with proper 0.1 increments.
I hope Moondrop releases the cable standalone as well in more colors because it’s a fantastic tool to play with. I’d buy many more just to use with other IEMs.
Finally got my Yaxi TH900 pads.
Had to cancel my first order because it got stuck somewhere for over a week with no updates.
Weird that getting the bundle is basically the same price as alcantara by itself
Shure KSE1200 and Mangird Tea Pro
Both are pretty much home runs in different ways.
Tea Pro:
On a continuum, it slots itself in the middle of the Explorer and Volume S for contrast between the midrange and bass, and the execution in the treble across all three makes it hard to give up any of them, as they each have their purpose. It has a very lush character with deep, tactile bass, but it’s not as pulled forward in the vocals so my usual rotation of jazz fusion, quiet storm, etc. is sublime.
KSE1200:
Currently working with approximating peak filters based off PEQ, so opinions are subject to change. Incredibly detailed. To be honest, it’s a toss-up between the AMT16 for surfacing low-level detail, but I prefer the sub-bass presentation on the KSE1200.
