What did you buy today? (Part 2)

Managed to cobble a few random USB C cables together to give it a go…

Ha what fun sounding device straight outta the box, not tried all the various options but so far I’ve settled with the modern tube paired with wide DSD setting, for a device with such a small footprint when hyper mode is engaged it’s got some :flexed_biceps: for sure too.

Looking forward to trying out more sets and settings :musical_notes::+1:

Facepalming when I realized I got rectangular shaped magnetic adapters but my magnetic cables are all ROUND and does not fit. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Went and ordered another magnetic adapter with cable that (should) fit…

I am very late posting this but I have recently bought this Portable DAC due to hearing many good things about and as well as being too good for its given price point. The TRN Black Pearl, what can I say, this one is really impressive for the given price and yeah probably one of best Portable DACs for the given price. I have never owned the Moondrop Dawn Pro before but I guess getting this one instead of that one is a better value, since to me this one just sounds really clean and transparent, hell it’s probably better than the Fiio BTR13 which I also own.

I think the only downside that I have for this would be it’s WalkPlay app, for you need to register an account in order to use its PEQ which is an 8-band by the way, and yeah most of the apps that I have used in relations to changing the filters and EQ does not need an account at all. Overall though, I’ve bought this with no expectations at all and it really surprised me.

That is wild. I’m considering getting one of those too.. but honestly, I’ve never heard a tube amp that I thought didn’t just make the sound worse - yet I keep being attracted to the vibe of them. I should probably just stick with my BTR17 or get the Fiio QX13 for the similar high power to the Cayin, but with PEQ instead of tubes.

Ok, this one finally arrived yesterday and right now I am expecting a KZ type of sounds since it looks like a KZ-style IEM, AKA I am expecting the same damn thing that I have had heard from my previous KZ IEMs that I used to own. I’ll give an update when I am right or wrong about it, but for now I can tell that the stock cable is crap and the ear tips as well, hence I think it’s a good idea to change the cable of this and as well as some better ear tips.

RU9 has three sound profiles, tube, modern tube and solid state so you can be sure that you will like at least one of them and theres the possibility that you might end up loving all of them

I just would not replace BTR17, it can stay as bluetooth source.

RU9 disqualifies itself as real portable bluetooth source imho as the battery life is way too short.

It´s perfect to use it stationary on a computer or with a powerbank imho

Not really audio related but it does enhance the experience, a nice mellow 1/2oz of sativa

With the DRAM shortage not looking so good. I decided to grab several of these before they also increase in pricing. Currently less than $189 a piece where I’m at.

So after a fair amount of abuse ( even 2 combat deployments) decided to replace my POCO F5 with a Nothing A3 Pro on sale on black Friday.

I like the POCO F5 and i plan on keeping it handy (the IR blaster is a life saver when you need a remote for the AC  ) but the OS is a bit annoying and somewhat sluggish not to mention the multiple battle scars this phone has.

Initial impressions of the A3 Pro is pretty good

The hand feel - good but different from the F5, it will take some time to get used to.
The A3 Pro is a larger phone, the camera bump is kinda massive, and i cant one hand it (it was tricky with the F5 but doable in a pinch). With that said the hand feel is solid, well build with a good weight in the hand. I think getting used to it wount take too long (once i get i case on it the bump shouldnt be an issue).

As far as software - Very smooth, very clean, and snappy, after setting up everything feels better than the F5, a lot less bloatware (also since im keeping the F5, i dont have to install a bunch of apps, and use the F5 when i need them). the only software annoyance ive had was the “essential button”, a stupid AI button located right below to the lock button - and by default you cant remap it. But after a quick YouTube tutorial and a handy little app its now my “Tidal button” (or Flashlight when i long press)
