Initially, pretty damn happy.
Best of the cables I can afford at least
I read that thread last year when I started looking at the WP900’s.
Wow, that is long.
Got the Focal Elegia’s today. Been having a blast listening to them, Electronic is surprisingly good on these haha. Only thing I don’t like so far is the cable, but already have a HAC on the way to replace the stock one. Also, my fully upgraded BHC is on it’s way!!! Super excited to try my Auteur’s on my first tube amp. Anyways, here’s some pics of the Elegia’s.
Looks like they changed the cable to a non-fabric one though. Definitely looks bad but nowhere near as bad as the fabric ones they used to use. Odd they’d change them on a discontinued product.
More stuff for the truck:
Time for the front shocks

The loop on the original broke, and it was a hell of a lot cheaper to get a new shell then to get a replacement remote. $15 for a shell, $50 for the remote.

Finally, something not for the truck, but inspired more by Zeo’s cooking videos:

pret hap with my stacc
well worth the savings downgrading from my V280
this amplifier exceeded my expectations, very surprised at what it can do comparatively to the V280!
Just looked in the case for my new Elegias, they have the non-fabric wire as well. Maybe they had an issue with their supplier. No sense in holding onto the product waiting for cables…
The non-fabric cable is the worst cable I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing, hands down. I can’t say if the fabric one is worse, but I can say that GRADO CABLES are better.
Focal should be ashamed.
Bought a Qudelix 5K today from Amazon. Arriving Tuesday.
Eager to compare it to my iFi hip-dac as a portable, non-Bluetooth DAC-amp. The Bluetooth availability is just icing or the cherry on a sundae – not my primary use case.
Been an expensive week. Not pictured: HD800s, Motu M2, and a blown engine cause I forgot to watch charge tempts on a practice session last weekend…
That is a fine amp! Really curious to hear your thoughts!
Honestky, idk i can realy give a review of it. Its my first desktop amp and my only other amp is aimed at high impedence not planars. All I can realy say for now is that Diana on it are realy shockingly good compaired to underpowered off of various daps
That looks like a Diana Phi based on the pad color. Or is that the V2?
V2 w/dms pads. Phi are certainly on the to try list now though
Got the Ori cowhide (top) and Eikon hybrid (bottom) from ZMF
Also I must say, I love how ZMF wraps their pads like a Xmas gift.
Hmm, I think I want to hear more about the blown engine! That could well be the next “What Did You Buy Today”.
Running an Enduro test of a sketchy ass Enduro car a buddy is building with an old 22r engine and a big tubro off idk what. Turns out the turbo heat soaks and charge temps skyrocket after a whilr. I wasn’t paying attention to that and got some ping at full boost…
Good news is a new engine is $200 at any junkyard ever (and he already has a few). Bad news is it means I have to help fix it this weekend instead of relaxing
