2.5 hrs + burn-in-> Fuckin not going to bed appreciating the hell outta em. As good as any Audeze I’ve run (LCD 2F, LCD 2CB, LCD 2C) Doesnt have the depth of bass…but almost and the mids are awesome. top 3 value buys I’ve had in audio game…plus they are custom, hand built and Sash is great with updates AND extra 50 will get you cups that can be attached to make closed. HIGHLY recommend.
How much did it end up being overall?
I grabbed two different sets of pads and two sets of cups - to play around with padding and open/closed back. I want to say base without back cups are 370-80 with shipping. I had sold all my Audeze…sort of was missing Planar sound…no longer the case.
That’s pretty good considering it is a fully custom headphone, like the Hyland stuff
Nice, I’m rolling the dice on some refurb elex so hoping they hold up
Just showed up so I’m still putting it through the paces, but this checks off a long time bucket list item for me, so I’m happy
Got a few things, just been meaning to take pics. First thing was a couple of stands for my Auteurs and Elegias. Then I got some Vanatoo t0’s to get some speakers back onto my desk.
Oh and here’s a “nice” pic of my BHC that I promised a while back lol. I recently upgraded the power tube to a winged “C” and I’m loving how it sounds with my Auteur’s.
Beautiful setup you got there!
They get shit on a lot, but holy hell do I love mine. Like mini empys. Mids = voice of God
My hopeful IEM end-game just arrived, the FiiO FD5. What beauties they are, and that cable is just fantastic.
Sadly I won’t be able to enjoy them just yet, as I’ve gotten an ear infection. But I’ll give them a quick spin just to try and then I’ll put them on burn-in while I recover.
The unboxing wasn’t all roses though, the package was missing the thin nozzles and I can’t find them anywhere. Package was factory sealed too, so I didn’t get a review model by mistake or anything like that. Either way I’ve had to email Linsoul about it and ask what’s up. Seems I bought the very last of the FD5 too as they’re now out of stock.
But yeah, I hope this will be an exciting experience once my ears are in tip-top shape again!
Those look awesome. Sometimes I wish I was an IEM guy just because they look so cool and come in such varieties and colors, but I’ll never get over how uncomfortable it is for me to have those things jammed into my ears, I just can’t do it lol
I was somewhat worried when I ordered them, since more than a few reviews and people on here commented on the size and comfort. But after trying them out for no more than 5 minutes I can say that my worries were for nothing. They’re super comfortable so far and sound fucking amazing on the Hiby R5, testing stock nozzle and the small bass silicon tips.
Oh boy I wish the Focal Celestee was tuned this good. I’d rather buy this three times over.
Same for me with Headphones…that weight and making my ears all super hot…I just can’t do it lol.
I didn’t buy them, but I am borrowing the Stellia from @sa11297 (thanks again dude). So far I am impressed. I’ve been Comparing them against my Celestee.
Initial thoughts on the Stellia are extremely positive. They are very similar to the Celestee but have more bass and better detail in the treble. The mids on the Celestee may not be as recessed as they are on the Stellia, but still are close. The Stellia may be the tiniest bit wider sounding then the Celestee, but Celestee sound more open. They are close is so many ways, but the Stellia bass is much better than the Celestee. The Stellia are more resolving in the upper mids and treble. Overall, the differences between the 2 aren’t vastly different unless you are a stickler for bass (like me). Sadly, the Stellia now have already made me not want to listen to my Celestee anymore, lol.
I also like the Stellia on the Quicksilver the most so far. That type of tube amp (on the more analytical side) seems to be a solid choice for the Stellia (running the Bifrost 2 to the Quicksilver). They also do scale up, but not as much as the Clears…but more than the Elegia or Celestee.
I also can understand how these may not be everybody’s cup of tea. There is some recession in the mids, which although not much, may still be a dealbreaker for some. Overall, these and the Clears are the best Focals that I’ve heard so far.
Here, let me fix that for you:
Main reason I compared them is because of how close the sound signatures are. I myself wanted to know how big the differences between the two were. This of course is purely subjective and others may disagree, but I think the Stellia is the better option if one can be found at a decent price used (I’ve seen them sell for as low as $1600 a few times). I should add that at stock price, I do not believe the Stellia is worth the price.
While that is true in this case, I have experienced situations where a more highly priced model sounds inferior to a lower priced model. Sadly, there are some people in the hobby (not aimed at you at all) that think just because something costs more that it is automatically “better”.
Decided to purchase a pair of Dekoni Elite Hybrid ear pads for my Sundara’s.
The stock right pad just doesn’t sit right and gets uncomfortable quite quickly, causing me to constantly tweak its placement on my head. Very annoying.
And I decided on the Elite Hybrid pads because they don’t alter the stock frequency response, or at least it is very very minimal at best. Not to mention they came recommended as well by a fellow forum member here, Blackscreen.
I switched to the Dekoni Elite Hybrid as well on my Sundara, and love them. They definitely start stiff, but break in nicely.
