Apologies–I thought I responded earlier, but I got distracted.

I am really impressed by Arya. They do feel like a “baby Susvara” to me in a lot of ways, and they could very much be endgame for a lot of people. They’re a compelling option for their price point, and upgrading from there to Susvara requires truckloads of cash and a lot of effort.

Arya has the same effortless delivery of sound as Susvara; it feels like music is just breathing out of the air around you vs being pounded out by drivers that you’re wearing. Frequency response is perfectly coherent with no sense of anything being over- or under-emphasized. Clarity is top notch. Both headphones have superb bass response, managing both a lot of slam and extreme control in low frequencies. Certain electronic music with nuanced but hard-hitting bass is just fantastic with either headphone. However, both really do play nicely with all kinds of music and they’re pretty forgiving (moreso than the 800s, for example).

Since posting that photo of Arya w/ Kann Cube, I have also tried it with my SP1000 + amp, which is markedly improved. The sense of space from my DAPs is collapsed somewhat compared to listening from a desktop setup, but the fact that I can even bring Arya out of the house and drive it portably is impressive. A buddy of mine tried it on his Fiio M11 Pro and that worked as well, though he pretty much had to redline it to get enough power, lol.

Susvara does basically everything Arya does, but with better detail and timbre so real it’s spooky. Arya sound like headphones–excellent headphones that do pretty much everything very well, but headphones nevertheless. Susvara sound so convincing that it’s easy to forget that they’re making the sound you’re hearing. The sensation is similar to watching a 3D movie in a theater–slip on the glasses and everything comes into focus, but it’s not the glasses that are projecting the movie.

Of course, the cost of entry is sky high, and then it’s a trick to power Susvara. A90 powers them quite well, surprisingly. A lot of people turn to speaker amps. I’m in the process myself of enabling a chain that uses “Zone B” of the McIntosh 8207 that powers my loudspeaker surround sound setup. That amp does 200W per channel at 8 or 4 ohms; McIntosh estimated it should deliver about 25W at Susvara’s 60 ohms (that’s roughly 8x what A90 does, FWIW).

In any case, the cost of ownership for Susvara can quickly spiral out of control not only because of the initial cost of entry, but for the sake of building an entire chain that’s precise and powerful enough to do them justice. When all is said and done, I’ll be using a Holo May into a Goldpoint level control and then the 8207 for an ultimate SS chain for Susvara. All told that chain will have cost me almost as much as I paid for my truck.

Fostex TH610 and Monoprice Liquid Platinum both arrived today. I used to own a TH610 but sold them a while back to fund my Atticus purchase. Nice to have them back again.

So far, the MLP is a nice sounding hybrid tube amp as well. Though, I am looking forward to popping in some better tubes.

Got some Dekoni Choice Suedes for the Beyerdynamic T1.2s. Zeos review got me.

Very initial impressions…makes everything 15% better. Little wider, little deeper, little more bass, little less treble while keeping that signature and performance. Also, increases clamp by just a twinge. Stock pads made this headphone one of the lightest, most comfortable headphones I’ve worn. Could literally melt listening to them. We’ll see if the Suedes stand the test of time with that.

Comfort level goes up by a solid 35%.

One quirk…I have really good peripheral vision…stock pads keep the can close enough to my ear I can’t really see the headphone…but the Dekonis give you like…a centimeter width or so, and now I can catch the can from my periphery. Just sayin. Not good, bad, or indifferent, just of note.

Are they still stock? If so, do you have anything planned? I did the driver mod.
The LP is wonderful!

They are stock at the moment. Eventually I plan on doing the full level 3 Lawton Mod…but I need to stop hemorrhaging money at the moment, lol.

Change of pace for this purchase. Before I do something stupid like buy a susvara, I thought I should try out a different type of transducer with my first speakers over $70

Pair of LS50

also got an XLR cable for my utopia

Just need to get a speaker amp and then i will be all set
(Until I inevitably upgrade in a couple weeks)

I am interested in these aswell, but I don’t know. I have put the ZMF eikon( I think they are eikon) suede pads on the T1 and it improved comfort by a whole lot, since the stock pads sit somewhat on my earlobes and that can be annoying af. But I have felt like they take something away from the sound I came to love so much. Probably I will try the dekonis aswell. Is the hole for the ear bigger than the one from the stock pads?

Received two tubes to try, got them very cheap so y not!

My initial hypothesis is that if you get rid of the dampener on the pad, you’ll get that something back. After more listening today, you are right…I’ve done a ton of side by side…I’m not treble sensitive at all so the Beyerdynamic treble is fine by me…the Dekoni’s add a lot to the track, but vocals might be a twinge recessed…idk how to describe it.

Example…listened to some Diana Krall Live from Paris and I preferred the stock pads…or at least I think I do? Then I listened to the re-issue of The Man Who Sold The World and I think I preferred Dekonis…Mick Ronson becomes the star of the show though with those pads and with the right amount of thc, you just blend into the psychedelic sound of the album. The Dekonis help the bass quite a bit, maybe a lot a bit.

-First speakers over 70$
-LS50s

Yeah that’s a nice jump lol
