Edit a better pic of the dart set upâŚps got some L-Style spinning shafts with their flights which Iâve been using before this, switched back as I was waiting in their âchampagneâ caps to complete that set upâŚbut yeah really liking the K Flex too
Modded a power supply. Removed a SMD current limiting resistor, replaced all the large caps in filter and output with some bypass caps for âgood measureâ. I didnât do the design work, another chap did and he shared.
Sounds great, improves clarity and stageâŚjust that tiny bit more. All in the margins baby. This powers DX340 completely bypassing its internal batteries for a decent step up in performance and massive increase in battery life.
Good to know in case I ever get the urge to do projects again now that I have the time. I used to have a lot of good components that I got from my Elmer in my Ham radio days. Unfortunately, they didnât make the move.
I still hold a tech license but havenât been on the air in years. Not much action around there these days and donât have the patience for HF windows with an active Sun.
I was an extra class. I say was because I doubt the cert is valid anymore. I still have fond memories of sitting at the station at 0300 with a cup of coffee, the surreal glow of the tubes, waiting for the signal to come in. I did mostly CW on 40m an 20m. Very large antennae! Big fun tho.
Completed my hardware stack. DX340 fed by two modded LHY 12V battery linear power supplies making transportable desktop killer. One power supply directly feeds the 340 DAC and SoC bypassing its internal batteries and charging circuit, the other feeds the 12V Super Gain input of the amp. The LHY are âconnectedâ with magnets. The 340 is âsecuredâ using bits of Kydex formed to cradle it. Easily use the 340 alone or with one or both LHY feeding it. The 340 is also heavily modded running nearly a complete replacement OS with direct hardware access for control and direct music playback removing many software layers from the audio flux. Anantar Ultimate V5 â iBasso DX340
The LHYs have their current limiter removed, Audio Note Kesei caps throughout with Kemet and Wima film bypass caps to âspeedâ them up.
I setup, using my old HQPlayer hardware I no longer use, Project Nomad. I donât have a GPU but I donât need fast AI. The KB options are quite good to have stored and use locally.
If youâve ever installed and setup Ubuntu this is very easily done. Itâs all scripted to setup once the OS is installed on whatever HW you haveâŚ
It works quite well. Thereâs a problem with Maps (maps are only US right now though) that others have also reported on Git. Someone else discovered a problem with the tarball. Easy fix, I was able to fix it with rm /opt/project-nomad/storage/maps/basemaps-assets.tar.gz
I donât have a GPU so AI is slow but works fine. Everything else works super fast without anything special.
