I honestly can’t imagine any audio gear at all (even speakers) could be worth $10k or more. Like considering what $10k can get you in the world, I’m going to stick with my $300 headphones and shit thanks.

Like any expensive hobby, it’s all relative. Why buy a Rolex or Patek Philippe watch for $20-100k when a Casio tells the time just fine for $50? Why buy a Lamborghini for $200k when your Toyota Corolla gets you from A to B just fine? Why buy a $5k Martin when a $200 Yamaha plays music just fine?
If you’re really into something and have the money to support it, people like finding the best the market has to offer.
I live pretty frugally for the most part but there are definitely some things I enjoy splurging a little bit on like nice headphones, which other people probably find ridiculous. But I also couldn’t care less about owning a $100k+ Range Rover, nor do I need the latest 8k TV.
But you can bet if I had $10k to light on fire I’d absolutely buy some killer headphones lol

I can imagine it, but I think it’s pure bullshit. That kind of stuff is for richie-riches that just like to show off. I’ll be honest, though - I would really like to hear a 5,000 per cent markup audio setup so I can hear for myself “just how much better” it is. I am guessing I will be disappointed. But hey, you never know. Maybe I will put that $10,000 set of headphones on, the sky will open up and I will be born again…

The Dark Blue colorway of the Kato almost got me buying this for I like the look better than the current one I have. But ever since that event with their customer support, I pretty much passed on this one, also if I might want a dark blue, I might as well do this one on my own and color it with the same color.

Had my eyes on a cheap used ADX5000 for a while now and wanted it to replace my HD800, but the seller didn’t respond. Probably for the better anyway, it’s probably too bright with SS amps.
I have gone through three cabinets/tables to hold my gear and I am still not happy. But I just don’t want to throw stuff out and it is too cheap to sell. In spite of that I almost bought today…

We didn’t buy any more real estate in New Orleans today. New Orleans is becoming seriously dysfunctional, not least because our mayor is now wacky as heck, and costing the city a bundle on luxury travel to the French Riviera.
