Didn’t buy any crypto currency today. Never have.
My trip to Louisiana was scary as heck a few years back. New Orleans around the French Quarter and Audubon was nice enough, but driving around the state, I saw things I didn’t know happened in the US.
It can be daunting at first, but Louisiana is uniquely diverse, depending on where you go. In Lafayette and New Iberia (Acadiana), there are still many Cajun French… much to see and do there, though the language is unfortunately dying off. Many think New Orleans is Cajun, but it’s not. It’s originally Creole (only ‘American’ after the Louisiana Purchase), and Creole really isn’t about race as many think, but about those whose forebears came here early on from France, Spain, the Caribbean, and Africa… so there are still many people of all races with Creole ancestry. And there’s much to see and do beyond the French Quarter that highlights Creole culture. New Orleans isn’t really Southern, either, but has long been unique unto itself… music, food, and culture found nowhere else. Many people who grow up here still speak with a ‘Yat’ accent, which sounds very like people from Brooklyn (though that dialect is dying off, too). And along the eastern Louisiana Gulf Coast, many came from Portugal long ago and, more recently, from Viet Nam… most are shrimpers and commercial fishermen (and women). Really, Louisiana doesn’t seem Southern until you get north of Baton Rouge or so… there, it gets more typically Southern, and you probably will see more that you didn’t know happens in the U.S.
Thanks for this very nice answer.
I didn’t mean to be hurtful or rude.
But I had not witnessed this level of poverty and so many abandoned communities in the US before.
I do however know about the rich history of the territory of Louisiane.
You weren’t rude at all. But, yes, the poverty seen in some parts of New Orleans is hard to fathom, though it’s not as bad as it once was. Once you get out and around some of the back roads in rural Louisiana, it’s worse. We’ve been through Appalachia in west Kentucky and east West Virginia, and it’s very poor there, too. There are pockets of poverty like that throughout the South still.
I want to try these so much… and they are currently $699. They look great!
But I have to keep reminding myself that based on everything I’ve read about them, I will almost certainly not like how they sound. I’m a E-MU / Beyer / Sundara guy
Another day go by where I have not bought the OG Clears. But it becomes harder every day!
You’ve dodged a bullet! As much as I wanted to love mine and tried to love them, I just hated them and sold them. Really, really boring cans.
I didn’t buy any Dunu SA6 Ultras today because they sold out. Really tempting, but when it comes down to it, I’m glad I still have my $600.
I did not buy the LCD-X closed. I think I want them, but I can’t seem to make up my mind between these and a few others. I am in an analysis paralysis loop. Probably best to just back away and take a break from all of that. I don’t really need to be spending the money right now anyway.
I am still in the verge of buying Softears RSV RS5…
I had to sell my LCD-XCs because they were so, so heavy. They didn’t really sound like anything special to me - the sound wasn’t worth the weight.
Valuable input for sure. Thank you. There seems to be a lot of discussion in the way of concern around LCD-X’s design and weight. Personally, I love the design and for whatever reason I don’t think the weight will be an issue for me. It’s the second thing you said that has my interest.
Ultimately, whenever I go through the process, I come back to the conclusion that if I do get these, I think I want the opens. I was looking for a nice closed set that is better than the LSA HP-2s for late night sessions. Not an easy task, as I still think very highly of the HP-2.
Wow, I had the complete opposite experience. I think they’re pretty awesome! Different strokes for different folks for sure.
I really want to hit the buy button on the LCD X’s with the November sale going on…I kind of feel the same way you do with the closed backs…I want a good pair of planars and I have heard these sound great on tubes…I just don’t know what I want to do
I did not buy any crypto currency today. I still suspect it is snake oil.
Oh I wouldn’t say that. Purchasing gear using cryptocurrency tightens up the bass, widens the soundstage, and increases separation between instruments.
Okay, I’ll think about it!
It’s hard, man. This isn’t a trivial amount of money we are talking about here, so you want to make the correct choice. I am right there with you. We’ll figure it out, though.
The money part is a small part of it for me…I would be able to at least break even on them if I decided to get rid of them…I just hate buying something that I end up not liking…To me it is a waste of time…I have had a few people that I know and respect their opinion, tell me you shouldn’t pass them up for the sale price…The other part is I have a chance to buy a pair of pretty much brand new OG Clears for $650…I have been going back and forth what I want to do…
