The wild thing is, on my CTH, I still like the 4xx, they’re so open. Maybe when the lcd2c are here I’ll abandon them entirely.

When i first heard of the 4xx someone said they where dark. Which i thought was strange. Then i bought a pair and at first i thought “thank god these exist” cause it sounded like a great headphone for cheap. but then after a while of listening to it, it just sounded more and more dull. I haven’t tried them on my RNHP yet. just my SP200. maybe it will liven them up
I feel like they’re a solid quite good headphone, they don’t edge into great. On a fuller warmer source they do sound better imo, so rnhp might be a nice pairing

started with Sennheiser 558, then 58x, then Drop He4xx, then OG Audioquest Nighthawks, then Drop Focal Elex, then Hifiman edition x v2. and that is current.
Amps and dacs. Started with SMSL su8, then Schiit Magni 3+ using su8, Then Schiit Jotunheim and su8, and Schiit Loki, Then Schiit Asgard 3 with the multibit Dac card. Now it is the Asgard 3 with a Monoprice Liquid Platinum. Done for now and foreseeable future…maybe.

I’ve had many sets over the years, most I can’t even remember but I’ll start where I’d say I my audiophile grade days started. Sennheiser HD598, Harmon Kardon BT (bought for my work set), Sennheiser HD1 (workout set), Koss KPH30i (on Zeos Panteras recommendation), and now Focal Elegia. Still have and listen to all. Mostly now the HD1s are my work set. The BTs are used for yard work and the HD598 and Elegias are in house use.
Now I am starting to get into Dacs and amps. My Elegias came with a Drgonfly Red and wow it really brings them all to life. I also ordered a iFi Zen Dac that should be here tomorrow. Also in talks to buy a Schiit Jotunheim with the Multibit Dac.
