Alison Limerick - Brooklyn Funk Essentials
@FBizzle She is amazing. Been a big fan for years. She wrote the music for the show Waitress, and actually sang the lead role for a bit ( I suspect for fun.)
Ck her version of She Used to be Mine. PS the live solo version of Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road is, indeed great. THIS is a singer!!! Enjoy.
An example of Anneke van Giersbergen (mentioned previously in this thread):
And a couple things that get a little heavier. Marcela Bovio:
Maria Brink
Just sharing this here because it’s definitely an unexpected song and video coming from a band, a girl, mainly known for just doing the “rock and roll” thing.
Love that song!
This girl can sing! I didn’t see anyone put her on here. Pick just about any song.
I have many “favorite” female vocalists, some I have already posted here. However, there is one missing that I just have to add. I was honestly surprised when I did a search through this thread and did not find her.
So, may I introduce you to the late - Mariska Veres (1947 - 2006), lead singer for the group “Shocking Blue”. Probably most known for her sultry vocals in the original version “Venus”.
California Here I come
Send me a Postcard
Never Marry a Railroadman
And of coarse the hallmark, Venus
More from Mariska and “Shocking Blue”
Not quite favourite (that’d be Floor Jansen), but Simone Simons from Epica is up there with other impressive singers. This new one from Epica really lets her voice shine.
It was like 15 years ago, at Audio Show in Warsaw, every second room had Kari Bremnes for showcasing the gear strengths (and weaknesses…)
I would have to say my favorite modern vocalist right now is Rachael Price from Lake Street Dive. She can do it all.
