I bought the Neumann NDH20 on Zeos recommendation. He raved about them. Worst headphones i ever bought. Buts thats more cause of my ignorance at the time. But if someone like Joshua Valour had reviewed them i think he would have liked them but warned me away.
On his recommendation i got the Monoprice retro’s, the Nads, the Philips SHP9500 all headphones he loved but i didnt like. Thank god Amazon has a awesome return policy. But he also told me about the Sendy Aiva’s that i love and the Focal Elex.
I wish Z would provide more info on his reviews. Dont get me wrong. i love his enthusiasm. But a little more technical info, critical, comparisons, WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE lol. He does do these things but they seem buried sometimes.
I love Z. He talks to you like a friend. Sometimes i put his reviews on just to hear him. He gets me so jazzed up about audio. But i have learned a LOT from him. He’s the one that got me into this hobby (hobby?), but i was already inclined towards it. I just never new where the good headphones were at, so i just bought cheap Koss. I had no idea something fantastic like the Sendy Aiva’s existed. and for that i’m eternally greatfull.
Also this Forum. He’s responsible for it. Ive learned so much here. Other forums i tried weren’t nearly as friendly. Some i got completely ignored on.
Is he a shill, showman, barker, seducer, salesman, an audio PT Barnum? I dont think so. I think he could do those things easy lol. But you can see he truly loves hifi audio. he loves music. he loves quality products at quality prices. and he’s very aware of us and wants to help.
I never experienced a phenomenon like this before. Ive been to product fairs where you watch a guy demonstrate and sell something and you can wait to get your hands on it. But Zoes really loves the stuff he reviews. And that can be deadly. Try to buy his recommendation on a site with a good return policy.
I have to admit that I am doing the same Also I put sometimes (for 58th time) a review from my past purchases in order to listen the hype and love them again
I agree on the m1060. They’re interesting, but that’s where I learned about the hype train that happens. I also probably would have pulled the trigger on Clears instead of the Elex and might have been happier with that purchase. That said, I really like my Elex and still use the m1060s on occasion.
Yet I still watch them. It’s a guilty pleasure but I don’t buy headphones based solely off of his reviews. Unfortunately, I live hours away from anywhere I can demo a set of headphones and rely on a yearly meetup to hear anything.
Yeah, actually demoing can be very difficult for most people, so buying from somewhere with no questions asked free returns is a good idea. I recently sold the m1060 because I realized that I didn’t listen to it that often anymore and already had a headphone that filled its role
I partially sold it off because I have the LCD 2.2 and imo I think that filled a similar role and does it better, but also because I had gotten the adx5000 and wanted to make myself think I was keeping a number limit to what I could have at one time, but like 2 weeks later I just disregarded that sooooo
A headphone is a tool for getting sound out of a source device and into one’s ears. If a tool is used frequently it goes on a utility belt either around the waist or slung over the shoulders and across the chest. Tools that are not in use go in a tool chest. Utility belts and tool chests can be purchased from hardware stores or online.
Reckon if you swop out the 12 gauges for headphones and fill the draws with iem’s instead of cartridges this’s what MON’s headphone storage room looks like?..
That’s alot of guns lol. My rooms more look like it they were both filled to the brim and ransacked at the same time. Also I have no cable management, so I’m sure I wouldn’t pass a fire safety inspection lol
But the thing is everything has to be clean and (somewhat) not messy, otherwise I will get pissed with my self. It’s a constant battle with myself lol
