Mood has a lot to do with it. That’s why so many of us have multiple systems/headphones/speakers/amps/dacs, etc.
Although your P1 issue may be an amp problem.

Mood can really effect people, just like expectation vs reality (assuming this is the thread in a nutshell)
I couldn’t be unsatisfied with their their reviews. I have bought several headphones/speakers/amps in the last few years and I certainly loved hearing what Zeos had to say about them. However, when I click the “buy” button, that’s on me. Buyer beware!
Besides listening to any other video reviews I can find, I read written reviews and try to find the product to look at live. As authoritative as reviews tend to sound, in the end they are just subjective opinions. Zeos is the first to say just that.
I don’t disagree that more objective information can be useful, such as frequency response graphs, but those can be found elsewhere if that is what you are looking for. And, importantly, that kind of information is just a piece of the puzzle. I think it Z’s review of the Sendy’s where he compares understanding headphones using charts and graphs to understanding a Ferrari by seeing the spark plug firing order. Funny, but true. You need to sit in the driver’s seat to grok the ride. Until you put on a set of cans or sit down in front of a pair of speakers, you will NEVER know if the product is right for you.
AndI’mOut.
My experience with the Nighthaws were along the terms of vomiting in my mouth a bit. I don’t know what it was, but my memory of them is just being very uncomfortable and sounding… wrong? I’d probably test them again just for the hell of it. But I wouldn’t throw myself over them and buy them.
Granted this was when I was testing all the headphones they had available at Hifi-Klubben (Swedish store). I just went through one bad headphone after another, looking for something to wear on the go. They didn’t like my phone one bit. So it might just be that the output wasn’t enough. Still had me wondering who would buy these for that price.
It’s a very different sound that some just absolutely adore and some despise lol
I’m surprised these headphones are so divisive. I personally love mine, they are my favorite headphones I have ever tried. I have the newer Carbon version, so maybe that has something to do with it, although I like the wood aesthetic of the original better. They do have a very unique sound, but I still find them very good as a headphone for detail and what a good headphone should be good at.
It really comes down to preference for sure. The Nighthawks and the Nighthawk carbon sound pretty similar imo. I personally enjoy my pair because they have a unique sound
A lot of people tell me they are dark sounding too. I actually don’t find that to be true for me at all. If anything is dark, it is my Kph30i. They sound dark. Nighthawk sounds maybe slightly v-shaped?
I’m little puzzled why Z hated on the Marshall Monitor The other day. It’s fine he doesn’t like them but he didn’t really say why… it makes wonder why the Majors are that much better. I Loved the Monitor for years and still do. It just Has me confused. Who has had both headphones?
MK2 Argon with MK3 baffles on a 789 is great. Most of the stuff was fine and some stuff was questionable.
My daughter has some Marshall Monitors which I bought her for Christmas as she wanted them. I must admit I find the sound to be very acceptable and I could easily listen to them and enjoy them. The battery life is excellent and the BT pairing very stable and with great range. In many respects they’re very good, however I find the size of the ear cups odd. They’re fine for my daughter with small ears but I find they are not over ear, but neither are they on ear with the result that I find them very uncomfortable with a lot of pressure and pinching of my ears. They’d have been better to keep their preferred on ear style rather than make something that is neither on ear or over ear I think.
Tried the Bluetooth versions and sent them back. Wasn’t thrilled with them. The wired seemed better quality sound overall. The Bluetooth sounded more V shaped then the wired version but even if you plugged in the Bluetooth version they didn’t sound as good the wired only version.
