The M is not what I was expecting either
TEDDY kind of said it was bright

Thanks for replying
I have been trying out eqs as sugestes by rikudou.
Luckily enough for me I’ll be going to canjam London (my first canjam) but after researching i don’t think the dte900, butastur and aehta will be there.
I’ll create a post asking for iems to try.
But for the endgame in the next 1-2 years, the order is different:
DTE900>IE600>D41
Aehta is good until the next best AuR comes along…so follow Riku’s advice
Loved DTE900 for its fun and energetic sound, would say it’s at same level of technicalities as the better tribrids I have tried.
Downside sharp upper mids that get tiresome for many, more of a specialized set to me. Sold it after some months, due to this. Still miss it at times, actually it had quite visceral and fast bass that few sets can replicate. My Bonneville is similar, but very differently tuned.
From outside it might look that way about AüR that their newest is always better, the Aure and Neon Pro is still considered the best by many followers. And they are the old models. But it’s natural that a new release will get the hype and talk on the forums.
Personally I think the Ascension is better tuned than all their older models but not more technical, I sold it to let my collection of AüR go due to personal reasons (also NP, Aurora and Aure)
Their new Aetha is what I would say is their most refined and clean sounding one, also their most resolving. Doesn’t mean it’s their best one, depends on taste. My favorite of them.
Right now I firmly believe the tribrids/quad market have a lot of good contenders:
Mega5est, RA, DTE900, Aetha, Voltage and MMK3 might be some of the best options around(and there are many more) So much to choose from and diminishing returns are strong, if it’s worth it or not depends.
Top 5 atm
I also use the KZ AS24 a fair bit because I don’t know if I love them or hate them. It’s a weird set in that way.
Presently I am using the Delci while watching Black Sails on Netflix. The Delci is a very decent single DD IEM for its price.
How’s Dita compared to ie600? They both seem to have that extended treble I’m looking for but can’t decide. For vast genres of music: indie, pop, rock, edm, classic, lowfi, hip hop, movie/game soundtracks, etc.
For reference AKG S8 EO from HBB’s database is my preferred “best” sound signature, so far. Thanks!
The ie600 has far more satisfying bass especially for your music library the Project m is more clinical in approach with very tight bass which leads to an overal brighter signature with less weight.
I love both I personally use the Project M more and find it exceptional with prog rock with its strong technical performance. Fir edm and hip hop the bass is a bit too light in quantity.
Hope that helps.
Just found this thread, here are my top five:-
Why can’t i find a place for the Pilgrim here
well it doesnt have Verdandi, Project M etc
Top 5 iems I have right now with me
I was reading NymPHONOmaniac’s review DTE900 on Dead- Fi today. In general, things are like that, but there is something generally messed up… and that is the tips. Tangzu do what he described, but reduce the size of the headstage by about 20% and high compression. So that…
Suitable tips are Divinus velvet or L size silicone of Mangird tea OG!
Ok I already got my update right in terms of the Top 5 I have right now, again! I’ll make it quick but I should I update it since I got the Letshuoer S08s recently.
Simgot EA1000 - Still a spectacular set, but got even better once I did @paulwasabii 's nozzle modding towards to it. Honeymoon period is over though, and I am getting a bit tired of the Harman-curve lately.
Letshuoer S08 - 99USD?! are you freaking kidding me?! With this sound? Holy shit is all I can say. And finally an another planar that has the tuning that I prefer overall, which is a neutral tuning for I have been searching for this type of tuning for a long time. Man it’s so good right now, and yeah I am currently using it to get used to the sounds.
Tangzu Wu Zetian Heydays - My go to set still when I am in need of an IEM to chill and not be worried about my other sets that can get too hot on their sounds. Still a great planar set and at least it’s not alone anymore being a Planar.
Simgot EM6L - Still using it for gaming and some music, as much as I like this IEM, I am in need of a break from the Harman-curve, might retire this soon for a future set for I need more IEMs that has the S08s tuning.
Simgot EA500 - Yeah, this one is also still good but I think it has been surpassed by my S08s. But, there are still time I just put these in my ears and most of my library still sounds good with the EA500s, though my recent sets are much better now.
Try installing 5.0mm diameter 300 density mesh filters on top of the metal filters inside of the EM6L nozzles. The added filters will tame the EM6L’s overly bright upper midrange and treble. The overall effect is that the tuning is changed from Harman tuning to HBB tuning.
Since currently I only have 5 IEMs in my collection, this would be easy. I’ll rate in descending order, the top spot is my most favorite, current end-game:
1/ Jomo Flamenco - top-notch details/resolution, perfect balance btw analytical and musical, anemic bass though but since i’m not bass-head and more of a treble-head, this IEM is the true definition of perfection for me. Not a day goes by without me forgetting to put these on my ears and losing myself in the music, end-game for the past 2 years now and still counting.
2/ Thieaudio Monarch mk2 - beautiful mid-range to die for, with great bass as well, sharing almost equal amount of ear time with Flamenco.
3/ Elysian Gaea - ultimate v-shape, bright specialist with aggressive & bombastic presentation that plays so well with K-pop & J-pop & my country’s pop. Very fun to listen to, tonally correct be damned xD.
4/ CF Andromeda 2020 - holographic soundstage with stellar imaging capability, though details/resolution can’t compete with the other 4 here, and like the 5th rank below, it is getting less and less listening sessions as the time passes since its biggest strength - imaging capability - was surpassed by the more superior Flamenco.
5/ QDC Anole VX - used to be my no.1 detail-oriented IEM and also my first TOTL end-game as well before I acquired the Flamenco, this one got the least amount ear time these days due to being a bit boring to listen to. Very safe tuning nonetheless, and a legendary IEM in itself, its DNA can be found in some famous IEMs nowadays like the Seeaudio Bravery or the Dunu SA6 family, it just no longer gel with me anymore, would still keep it for nostalgia sake though.
The 5 above are ones that I actually own, if I have to factor in all IEMs that I’ve had the chance & privilege to demo from all the local audio hangouts so far, then there will be some that would shake up the order of the list above quite radically. Particularly Canpur CP622B, Elysian Annihilator 2023, Symphonium Crimson & Aroma Feiwan, these can be at least on the same rank as the Flamenco and above easily.
Will give that one a try, also where I can I look for that mesh filter just in case? Thanks for the suggestion.
